Mariposa has been in the same family for thirty years, who chose the best spot in the whole valley to build their home. When we first stood gazing out from the terrace, the view took our breath away and we were hooked! There are four double bedrooms( one is huge with its own terrace), one with en suite and one with shower, there is also a separate bathroom. The first floor has a L-shaped lounge leading onto a large terrace, kitchen,utility room and toilet. Most rooms face the stunning view. Satellite TV and DVD are also available.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

Named Costa Brava (the wild coast) by the Catalan poet Ferran Agullo at the beginning of the 20th century, this coast stretches from the town of Blanes, 50 kms north of Barcelona, right up to the French border near Cadaques. Calonge / Rio d'Oro area

The municipality of Calonge - Sant Antoni is interesting for its dual nature: Calonge,situated inland, has a notable medieval castle. Sant Antoni stands on the coast and offers excellent walks along its extensive seafront promenade and visits to a variety of different coves. There are festivals all through the summer months, plenty of good shops and restaurants and numerous places of interest such as Dali's museum in Figueres or the ancient village of Pals. For garden lovers there's the Cape Roig Botanical garden with its beautiful terraces overlooking the sea - and for golf fanatics there are 8 golf courses within 10-30 mins drive.

Rio d'Oro (river of gold) has a renowned Catalan restaurant so you don't need to drive!

How to get there

Fly to Girona (also Barcelona or Perpignan) - Mariposa is approx. 35 km (44 mins) from Girona airport.
Cheap flights available from all over UK - i.e. Ryanair from Luton, Stansted, E.Midlands, Bournemouth, Blackpool, Liverpool, Glasgow and Dublin.
Car hire from Hertz through Ryanair.

The single beds are arranged as one twin (that can be arranged as a double) and four singles together with a bunk bed in the large room with its own terrace.
