Our holiday home, Casa Sant Roc, sits in a 1000m2 level plot at the foot of the Gavarres hills. It is comfortably furnished throughout and well equipped for self-catering, both in the kitchen and garden, where there is a broad covered terrace alongside the large in-built barbecue. There are shady areas under the trees in which to eat or simply relax.
Especially suited for families with younger children the garden is enclosed and the private pool, which is visible both from the terraces outside and the living room within, has a separate children's paddling pool end. Suitable for golfers with excellent golf courses a short drive away.
The property has electric radiators which makes it suitable for early or late bookings. The perfect retreat if you have had enough of the beautiful beaches, countryside and medieval towns. The villa is equipped with fans in the 4 bedrooms and mosquito nets on bedroom windows. Table tennis and basket ball outside, MP3/ipod dock speaker, stereo system, satellite TV and DVD.There is a restaurant in a converted farm house which is a 5 minute walk away from the villa.
The villa has an extensive housebook with information on the house and area, including local activities, restaurants, places to visit.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region
This unique area of the Costa Brava remains unspoilt, and is characterised by green, lush rolling hillsides covered in evergreen cork, olive and oak. There are magnificent beaches, sandy coves, and historic coastal and inland villages to visit, all within easy driving distance. The local area also has beautiful coastal walks and countryside trails to enjoy. There are plenty of activities for young people, including all the usual water-sports, plus cycling , kayaking, snorkeling, horse riding, karting, quad-biking, and a large water park - all nearby. It's also very easy to get to the wonderful cities of Barcelona and Perpignan for a day out, by train or car, and the beautiful and historic towns of Girona, La Bisbal, Besalu, Cadaques and Figueres, are even nearer. Golf closest to villa is at Club de Golf d'Aro at : Platja d'Aro, 15 mins, with its astonishing layout and breathtaking views of the Med, offers a challenge, it also has an excellent practice ground. 20 minutes away is Club de Golf Costa Brava at Sant Cristina, a gently undulating 18 holes offering moderate difficulty. It has an excellent restaurant. 20 mins away, home of earlier Spanish Open Tournaments is one of Spains oldest courses at Golf de Pals with a beautiful rustic clubhouse and offering a challenging course. 25 mins away is Golf Serres de Pals, 30 mins is Emporda Golf Club with 36 holes of unusual mixture of grassy, sandy links and pines with many water hazards. 45 mins away is the home to The Sarazon Open and the Spanish Open, PGA Catalunya. An astounding test of golf! With an huge practice ground.
Calonge / Cabanyes area
The medieval village of Calonge has all the amenities eg restaurants, weekly market. Calonge-Sant Antoni is located in the heart of the Costa Brava.Calonge is situated inland ( 2.5 km from the coast) and is the cultural and historical centre of the town, a special note should be made of the medieval castle ( 12th-13th century), the church of Sant Marti and the curious Carrer del Calcul ( Calcul street). Here one can explore the interesting network of streets and alleys which form the town centre. Sant Antoni has an extensive programme of sports and pleasure activities to be found on the beaches in the summer months. Platja d'aro is a short drive ( 10 minutes) away and has a vast shopping area for everyone, from local produce to designer fashion shops. To the north, Figueres is the capital of the Emporda comarca, and only 37km from France. It houses the famous Dali Museum, housing some of Salvador Dali's most interesting works. Barcelona is a must .There is something for everyone, shops ,La Rambla,Picasso Museum,Olympic Stadium and much moreA restaurant in walking distance. Nearest beach is 5 minute drive away, which stretches from the fishing port of Palamos (where there are plenty of good fish restaurants) to the quiet family resort of Sant Antoni. Our personal favourite beach is La Fosca (a 10 minute drive) which is a small, natural bay with the added advantage of a gentle sloping beach into the sea and the beautiful natural cove of Castell with plenty of stunning costal walks.
The pretty coves of Llafranc and Begur are a 20 minute drive away. Heading south you have a Water park at Platja d'Aro, a 15 minute drive away with slides and flumes. A bit further south is the Victorian town of Sant Feliu de Guixois which has a marina and family beach. Head inland and there are plenty of walks in the beautiful Gavarres National reserve. The hill-top hamlet of Romanya (just a few km away) has two restaurants with stunning views. All the local towns have programmes of festivals and activities for example - dance of giants, concerts and music festivals in the castle grounds, hearing of sardanas and carnivals.

Cheap flights with Ryanair from the UK to Girona Airport Girona airport is a 40 minutes drive from the property and is a destination for Ryanair from Bristol, Stanstead, Bournemouth, Luton, East Midlands, Liverpool, Doncaster, Glasgow, Dublin and Shannon. Other operators to Girona now include Thomson, Barcelona is 1 hour 20 minutes from the property and is served by flights from Iberia, Monarch, BA and Easyjet. Conditions
Payment A 30% deposit (non-refundable) is required on booking. The balance is to be paid within 8 weeks of departure. The property can be provisionally held for 48 hours in order to make flight and payment arrangements.
Cancellations Notice of cancellation is required in writing. The following charges will apply to cancellations:-
8 weeks prior to booking - 30% deposit 7 to 8 weeks prior to booking – 50% refund. 6 to 4 weeks prior to booking - 25% refund. Less then 4 weeks – no refund.
Refundable deposit A £200 refundable deposit is required with balance in case of damages (this can be a cheque that I'll hold without banking and return to you).
Pool Clients are reminded that children need to be supervised in the garden at all times as the pool is not enclosed and has no lifeguard.
The pool can be heated in early or late season if requested in advance. The cost is £125. If heated, the pool cover needs to be put back in place when not in use, especially at night, for the pool to keep its temperature.
Welcome Food Pack A basic food pack can be arranged to be available on arrival for an additional charge of £15.

Cots & Highchairs A highchair can be made available on request. Cots can be hired for £20 per week (including bedding).

•Terms and conditions:- The rental price includes all gas, electricity and water, provision bed linen and towels (not beach or pool towels) and the full cleaning of the villa and laundering of all towels and bedlinen before you arrive and on 7th day if your stay is for 14 nights. Also included in the price for you - pool will be checked, cleaned and maintained for you.
•Deposits :- A 30% non-refundable deposit is required to secure each booking, with the final balance to be paid 8 weeks before the holiday start-date please. A breakage/security deposit of £200 is required, to be paid with the final balance - this deposit will be refunded to you, less any breakage costs. I strongly recommend that you take out holiday insurance.
•Arrival and Departure times :- Changeover day is normally Friday, but we may be able to be flexible on bookings made outside the peak summer period. Please arrive at the villa after 4pm on arrival day - and depart before 10am on departure day - this will ensure that everyone has a clean and tidy villa to start their holiday.

Lovely villa for a peaceful family holiday Hels, Ramon and the rest of the gang Addlestone, Surrey Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009 The villa is well equipped with everything one could need for a family holiday. We had 5 adults and my 2 young grandchildren in our party and there was plenty of space for everyone. The pool, gardens and outside dining area were particularly appreciated, though the little ones also enjoyed having UK TV channels so that they could go inside in the midday heat. The villa is extremely convenient for getting around and there is a good supermarket just down the road with an excellent fresh fish counter for those who want to self cater, though there are several excellent restaurants in the area - El Refugi in Romanya just 10 minutes drive along a country road is particularly recommended. I would recommend the villa to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in a lovely part of Spain.

The Bedrooms are all good sizes and the accommodation is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The gardens are beautiful and unusually for this region, are all on one level which, is perfect if, like us, you have young children. The small paddling pool is was also perfect for our 3 year old and there is plenty of shade around the pool and the dining area to get out of the midday sun. The table tennis table and sky tv was also great for the older children. There are several great beaches and resorts all within a 5 - 15 minute drive our personal favourites were callella de palafrugell and la franc as there are some fantastic restaurants there as well as lovely beaches. La fosca is a lovely beach with nice sand and both st antoni and platja d'aro are perfect if you want somewhere a bit busier. There is also a great supermarket at calonge just a few minutes away if you can't tear yourself away from the villa! Another bonus is the flight only took 1 hr 50 minutes and the villa is just a 35 minute drive from Girona airport so all in all, its perfect for a stress free family break. The region is very Spanish and we heard very few English voices during our stay, the resorts were very very quiet during the weekdays and only slightly busier at the weekends. The owners were very helpful and allways responded promptly to our emails. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend this villa to anyone looking for a peaceful, stress free family holiday with great food and lovely scenery.
