Within a 10 mile radius are the prehistoric monuments of Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill & West Kennet Longbarrow, several “White Horses” carved out of chalk on the North Wiltshire Downs, the National Trust village of Lacock and the Kennet & Avon Canal – great for narrow boat trips. A little further away but still within easy driving distance are historic market towns – Marlborough, Devizes and Bradford-on-Avon, the Georgian city of Bath and the south Cotswolds with its many historic towns and villages - Cirencester, Castle Combe, Cheltenham, Tetbury, Badminton - to name but a few.
Calne has its fair share of ancient buildings a number of them situated round the picturesque Green and close to Calne's 12th century church. The town also has a good range of shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants.
