Christmas Cottage is offered as a self catering romantic getaway or for family holiday. It offers a great base for exploring the surrounding areas of interest and It affords easy access to all amenities yet is set in a very quiet location with many country walks on the doorstep. Other attractions incolude Lacock 8 miles; Marlborough 13 miles; Bath 20 miles; Avebury 7.5 miles; Salisbury 33 miles; Castle Combe 13 miles; Wootton Bassett 11 miles.

The Central Southern England / Wiltshire region

Wiltshire is an area steeped in history with many historic sites, towns and villages within a short distance of eachother. Avebury (with pre-historic stone circles), Marlborough, Castle Combe and Lacock are just a few of the attractions of Wiltshire.

The Calne area

Calne is a central point for visiting many interesting areas. There are many walks and cycle routes, pubs and restaurants and a leisure centre. There are 2 major banks; post office; Tourist Centre all less than 5 minutes walk away from the cottage.
A dedicated cycle path exists from Calne to Chippenham - approximately 7 miles in distance (Cycle Trail Route 11) and takes you through the beautiful countryside, past the disused Black Halt Dog Railway Station, and views of Bowood lake and the Bowood Estate. You will cycle through various villages and hamlets offering refreshment and rest! 2 adult bikes can be provided by prior arrangement.

“What a find!!!!” I booked this cottage for a last minute short break for myself, 12 old son and our dog. Everything we could possibly need and more was provided, including a lovely welcome basket meaning I could have that all important cuppa after a long journey before finding the shops. There is plenty to do locally and slightly further afield. We enjoyed the local wallks with the dog and days out at Longleat and Devizes which were both within easy reach by car. Fabulous cottage, great host and we definitely can't wait to go again.

“Hidden gem” We stayed at Christmas Cottage for one week in August. The lovely quaint cottage is very old with beams and low ceilings but in excellent condition. Just straight out of a postcard. You don't need to bring anything, everything is provided, there is even a welcome basket filled with treats awaiting you. The cottage is very clean, it has a lovely garden and is located near all the places worth visiting in Wiltshire (Avebury, Stonehenge, Bath). We have tried and tested several cottages in Wiltshire over the past years, but this one wins with flying colours.

“cozy and well maintain” Pretty good home, a bit difficult to find as the door in not directly on the street, look for a small wooded gate with #18 on it, just on the corner of the street. Clean and cozy place, well maintain and very well furnished. Groceries are at 2 min walk. Every things are really as described, nos surprise

“Quaint & perfectly well equipped in a good location” A beautifully restored cottage with great history with tasteful furnishings, loved the bath tub. It's in a good location to local amenities. Wonderful welcome basket with yummy cake and some of the basic essentials and the owner had even ensured we had some fab toys and hi-chair for our 17mth old daughter, very thoughtful. Great book and dvd collection, just wish we could of stayed longer and that the weather had been better so we could of enjoyed sitting in the pretty garden. Not advisable for tall people, due to the low ceilings! Heaps of character though. Thanks Anita for making our stay so easy and pleasant.

“A Gem and a Half!!!!” My partner and I spent a weekend in Christmas Cottage as a surprise for his birthday, I saw the property advertised online. What a gem of a find. The cottage is absolutely fantastic. The directions and information received from Anita were spot on, we had no trouble at all finding our way there and once there, to say we were completely blown away by the cottage itself is an understatement. Beautifully clean and well kept, all the cutlere, crockery, pots and pans etc. for a brilliant self catering holiday. Although it was only April, we were lucky enough to have good weather, the garden is a true suntrap. The cottage is very near the centre of Calne and is perfectly located for trips to the wiltshire countryside and Bath. All in all, a lovely place, we have stayed at many self catering places both in England and abroad, Christmas Cottage certainly tops the list and we hope to retun.

“A perfect cottage in a wonderful location” Christmas Cottage is just perfect. We have stayed in many cottages both here in the UK and in France. This one outshone the rest. The owner ensures attention to detail which includes a very generous welcome basket, even treats for the dog, if you have one! The cottage is well equipped with every thing you would need for a lovely relaxing break. The location is superb. Do not bother taking provisions with you as there are plenty of big supermarkets within walking distance. The cottage is set back from the main centre of Calne with lovely walks on the doorstep. If you have a baby there is plenty of room in the 2nd bedroom for a travel cot. All the mod cons you would need, altogether a quaint, cosy, pretty, well equipped cottage. We are booked in for a second visit this month.

“Wonderful cottage, great location.” The booking process was easy with information on the cottage, plus directions etc arriving as promised. It is conveniently situated near shops and parks in a quiet area just off the town center. The cottage is spacious, light , airy and comes equipped with everything and more than you'll need for a stay. There is a full kitchen with all the utensils you can use. The living room is comfortable, warm and light. As are the bedrooms. The overall cleanliness and condition of the cottage is impressive. We arrived to find a welcome pack of basic groceries which was very....welcome. We will re-book if we are in the area again.
