Hawthorn is a single story modern cottage-style property designed by the owners & an award-winning local architect in 2006. From its solid oak flooring and leather & teak furniture imported from Bali, no stone has been left unturned in fashioning an exquisite holiday home.

There is a luxury kitchen with granite worktops & quality appliances to ensure meals match the surroundings. The 2 king bedrooms have orthopedic mattresses & en-suite shower rooms (1 a full wet room) with a further family bathroom.

Outside there are 4 acres of grounds. The indoor pool, hot tub & gym is shared with just 2 other (smaller) cottages. Most of the time it is like having your own indoor leisure complex. The pool even has a state of the art swim machine so if you are tired of visiting holiday cottages with a tiny indoor pool this small pool becomes literally "endless" at the touch of a button.

The rest of the grounds are shared with 4 other cottages (see property numbers 159572, 73, 78 & 79). There is an additional sunny outdoor pool (summer only), games room, 2 fishing ponds, trampoline, donkeys and children's play areas.

Hawthorn is situated all on one level with a ramped entrance, wide doors and plenty of open space. There is Oak flooring throughout and plenty of light from the high ceilings. This is our idea of the perfect holiday cottage and we hope that you agree.

Long Barn cottages now has its own private mini leisure centre - with indoor pool with swimming current machine, well-equipped gym & spacious hot tub ! Just feet from your front door! This exclusive facility is shared between only 3 cottages. Almost like having your own private indoor pool!


Living...

The spacious lounge is stunning. Furnished in a modern laid-back style with teak furniture imported from Bali. It has a widescreen LCD TV and dvd system to enjoy the small video library we have left for you. There is also a CD multi-player. There is a large solid wood table with plenty of space for 8 people.

The kitchen is fabulous. Granite worktops and integrated appliances. There is a top quality oven and ceramic hob along with the usual appliances you would expect in a well-equipped home.

Sleeping...

There are two bedrooms with king size beds and a shower room with under floor heating.

The two twin rooms have two large twin beds and a shared bathroom.

The bed linen is by designers guild or similar level of quality.. The beds are solid wood and the views from all rooms are lovely.

Outside there is a huge private deck with views over un-spoilt countryside, a BBQ and teak patio furniture.

Indoor pool & gym includes
- Indoor solar-heated pool with current machine - terrific fun whether for paddlers or serious competitive swimmers
- 6 person hot tub
- small gym with health club quality equipment

After a hard day out and about, why not put up your feet and relax in this spacious hot tub. Equipped with practically every conceivable water therapy, it will soothe your limbs in no time at all.

You may think that 6.3mx3.5m is small. But this pool with the latest Endless Pool "fastlane" current machine turns the smallest pool into an ocean. The powerful current can either enable the strongest swimmer to have a terrific work out, or it can be set to create a gentle current to laze about in. Children find swimming against & then with, the current, astonishing fun!

The pool is shared between only 3 cottages (Ash, Beech & Hawthorn) so it will almost be like having your own private indoor pool.
For tri-athletes & competitive swimmers we hope to be offering an on-site coaching & swim video analysis shortly.

The gym consists of three top quality Bremshey machines. There is a rowing machine, large treadmill and a cycle.

Outside there are 4 acres of beautifully kept grounds including our 2 well-stocked fishing ponds.

Fishing...
Our two fishing ponds provide a contemplative sporting challenge amid beautiful scenery. They are well-stocked with Carp, Mirror Carp, Rudd and Tench. We often see 6lb fish swimming near the surface, especially at feeding times in the evening or morning. The lakes have captivated experienced and "fair weather" anglers alike. Games Room...
Newly refurbished for 2012. There is a large barn with free table football and table tennis. There is also Air Hockey and an inexpensive arcade game.

Play areas...
We have two play areas. One for toddlers and something more adventurous for the older children. New for 2012 is the latest in quality trampolines. Our "JUMPPOD 15' trampoline has all the latest safety features. There are also two Play platforms and swings.

Animals...
Our donkeys, named Snwoflake & Sam have gained fans aged from 8 months to 80 years. They adore the attention and love children.

Bird watching in Cornwall at Trehill...
Finally for those with an interest in birds we have a huge variety from Herons to Kingfishers with hawks, robins, swallows and long-tailed tits much in evidence. Most of these can be seen from your own patio or balcony!

The Grounds...
The four acres feature, three ponds, the paddock for the donkeys and some lovely secluded spots where you can just sit and enjoy the lovely cornish countryside. The elevated nature of these grounds means that there are plenty of sunny spots and the views are magnificent.


Outdoor Pool...
This small pool is perfect for children to swim in, but even the largest adult can take a refreshing dip. There are also plenty of sun loungers to enjoy the sun shining from early in the morning to early evening during the summer months. The pool is (depending on the weather) heated and open from mid May to early September.

Further details

Hawthorn cottage usually has a Friday changeover, but we do try to be flexible so email or call us if you are seeking alternatives.

Hawthorn is all on one level with wide doorways & ramps so is suitable for wheelchair users or others with restricted mobility.

Conditions

There is a 25% deposit payable on booking with the balance due 6 weeks before hand. Utilities & linen are included although you will need pool/beach towels. No cot bedding is provided.

The West Country / Cornwall region

This lovely corner of SE Cornwall enjoys a sheltered micro climate protected by the moors to the north and the Tamar estuary to the south. Trehill itself lies on a mini plateau surrounded by countryside on all sides. This means that it is sunny, light and dry.

Callington has a Tesco, Co Op and other local shops. There is a farmers market run by the WI every Wednesday and a larger one twice a month. There are some really good country pubs within a short drive as well. Locally there is great walking and cycling.

The Callington area

The great thing about this area is that although Trehill is exceptionally quiet and peaceful, the main roads are close by. So you can get everywhere very quickly.

Cotehele (5 minutes away) is a beautiful tudor manor house. A little bit further afield there are a number of other wonderful NT house (Lanhydrock, Castle Drogo, Saltram (famous for Alice & Wondreland) and Buckfast, the home of Sir Francis Drake.

The nearest beach is at Seaton (20 minutes) and for adrenalin junkies there is karting, europe's longest zip wire and boating all within 10 minutes.

For golfers, St Mellion (2 miles) is truly outstanding and China Fleet offers very good golf at a reasonable price.

Eden and the gardens of Heligan are about 40 minutes away and even Lands End is onlt 80 minutes.

Closer to home though are the SW coastal paths and if you miss the "urban " too much, Plymouth with its historic barbican centre is only 12 miles away.

There is fishing on site but if you want to try the deep sea version then Looe with it's charter boats is about 25 minutes away.

For those looking for a bit more adventure, there is off road driving, clay pidgeon shooting, karting, Europe's longest zip wire and horse riding all within a short drive (about 10 minutes or so).

Callington sits at the head of the Tamar valley in SE Cornwall. Sereved by 2 Aroads & not far from the dual carriageway A38 & A30, it is easy to reach & makes a great base for exploring Cornwall & West Devon. Plymouth with it's airport, mainline station & ferry ports is just 12 miles away. Within a 10 minute drive there is a wide variety of supermarkets (Tesco, Morrisons, Co Op & Waitrose) as well as good farm shops & butchers.
