About the home

Lilliput is a deceptively small but really ideal holiday cottage.

This is one property where pictures really do not tell the whole story. Lilliput is deceptively large with 2 good sized bedrooms (both with en-suite shower rooms. A full kitchen with dishwasher & washing machine. Gas central heating and a lovely lounge with solid Oak floors. The lounge has a great 32" LCD TV with FULL Sky package (inc sports & movies). There is a DVD with its own DVD library, wi-fi & sound system

Even better though, it also has a separate conservatory. Unique for a property sleeping 4, you get effectively 2 lounges.

Getting round Cornwall is a breeze as you are close to an A road, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of genuine Cornish countryside. As a bonus, all guests receive free membership of the nearby China Fleet health club. There you can enjoy top quality private facilities including indoor pool complex, gym, spa room, exercise classes, squash tennis and (extra charge) golf.

There are loads of things to do nearby including Cotehele NT mansion, more golf at the acclaimed St Mellion club, karting, zip wires and of course the lovely beaches (nearest is about 20 minutes away).

Outside Lilliput is entirely detached and enclosed in its own grounds (extra safety if you have toddlers). There are benches, table & chairs & BBQ. At least somewhere will be getting the sun, pretty much any time of day. The conservatory is also very sunny)

What to do at Trehill...

Within the four acres of grounds there is so much to do. Take advantage of the...

Outdoor Pool...
This small pool is perfect for children to swim in, but even the largest adult can take a refreshing dip. There are also plenty of sun loungers to enjoy the sun shining from early in the morning to early evening during the summer months. The pool is (depending on the weather) heated and open from mid May to early September.

The Trehill cottages receive free membership to the China Fleet Leisure club with its three pools, squash, tennis, and spa.

Fishing...
Three fishing ponds provide a contemplative sporting challenge amid beautiful scenery. They are well-stocked with Carp, Mirror Carp, Rudd and Tench. We often see 6lb fish swimming near the surface, especially at feeding times in the evening or morning. The lakes have captivated experienced and "fair weather" anglers alike. Games Room...
A large barn with free table football and table tennis. There is also Air Hockey and some inexpensive arcade games.

Play areas...
We have two play areas. One for toddlers and something more adventurous for the older children. There is also a large 14' trampoline and swings.

Animals...
Our donkeys, namely Abraham & Sam have gained fans aged from 8 months to 80 years. They adore the attention and love children.

Bird watching in Cornwall at Trehill...
Finally for those with an interest in birds we have a huge variety from Herons to Kingfishers with hawks, robins, swallows and long-tailed tits much in evidence. Most of these can be seen from your own patio or balcony!

The Grounds...
The four acres feature, three ponds, the paddock for the donkeys and some lovely secluded spots where you can just sit and enjoy the lovely cornish countryside. The elevated nature of these grounds means that there are plenty of sunny spots and the views are magnificent.

Golf and Leisure Facilities - Just a few miles down the road lies the beautiful China Fleet Club. Set beside the banks of the river Tamar it boasts superb leisure facilities as well as a championship golf course. Trehill cottages guests receive free memberships. Guests at Long Barn Cottages have their own on-site indoor leisure facilities.

For really keen golfers we can also arrange fabulous golf breaks at the nearby St Mellion Club - home of the English Open from 2013

The West Country / Cornwall region

This lovely corner of SE Cornwall enjoys a sheltered micro climate protected by the moors to the north and the Tamar estuary to the south. Trehill itself lies on a mini plateau surrounded by countryside on all sides. This means that it is sunny, light and dry.

Callington has a Tesco, Co Op and other local shops. There is a farmers market run by the WI every Wednesday and a larger one twice a month. There are some really good country pubs within a short drive as well. Locally there is great walking and cycling.

The Callington area

The great thing about this area is that although Trehill is exceptionally quiet and peaceful, the main roads are close by. So you can get everywhere very quickly.

Cotehele (5 minutes away) is a beautiful tudor manor house. A little bit further afield there are a number of other wonderful NT house (Lanhydrock, Castle Drogo, Saltram (famous for Alice & Wondreland) and Buckfast, the home of Sir Francis Drake.

The nearest beach is at Seaton (20 minutes) and for adrenalin junkies there is karting, europe's longest zip wire and boating all within 10 minutes.

For golfers, St Mellion (2 miles) is truly outstanding and China Fleet offers very good golf at a reasonable price.

Eden and the gardens of Heligan are about 40 minutes away and even Lands End is onlt 80 minutes.

Closer to home though are the SW coastal paths and if you miss the "urban " too much, Plymouth with its historic barbican centre is only 12 miles away.

There is fishing on site but if you want to try the deep sea version then Looe with it's charter boats is about 25 minutes away.

For those looking for a bit more adventure, there is off road driving, clay pidgeon shooting, karting, Europe's longest zip wire and horse riding all within a short drive (about 10 minutes or so).

Calling ton is easily reached from major roads and rail stations. If using sat nav DO NOT slow the sat nav to set a route "avoiding congestion charge".

Travel by road. Take the M5 south from Bristol. At the end of the M5(Exeter), take the A38 to Plymouth. At Plymouth cross the Tamar bridge. At the roundabout take the A388 to Callington. At Callington take the A390 towards Liskeard. As you leave Callington you will go down a steep hill. Trehill lane is about 400m down the hill. Turn left And proceed along the lane for 200m and Trehill cottages will be on the right.

Train - use Plymouth on the Great Western line.
Ferry - Plymouth is served by defies from France and Spain.
plane - Plymouth has a small airport, Exeter, Bristol and Newqauy are also close by.
