The Hebrides region
A unique corner of the world where you will feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of your daily life. Ideal for relaxing with wonderful views at every turn. Unique in that we have our own language (Scottish Gaelic) still widely spoken throughout. The people are very hospitable and the natural environment is very special.
There is much to see and do in the area and throughout the island. Sightseeing is the most popular activity and indeed there are varied and magnificent sights to see. The beauty of the natural environment and wildlife, along with empty white beaches, will stay in your memory forever and you are guaranteed to want to return. If you dont then we may question why not!
For those more active there is the opportunity to go fishing, either sea or loch, surfing, hillclimbing and cycling. These are all available closeby and we are happy to organise for you. Even if you have never fished or surfed before, we can arrange for you to have a go.
The Harris Tweed Industry is unique to the island and you can see weavers at work and learn the story of this special cloth and how its now experiencing a world wide revival.
On rainy days you can visit a number of galleries, potteries, craft shops, museums,or the various local Historical Society Exhibitions that are dotted throughout the island. You can learn more about our way of life, past and present, our seafaring heritage and the ancient Gaelic language, which is still widely spoken today.
Our aim is for you to get the best out of your holiday, to appreciate our unique culture, to see, do and partake in whatever you wish and as such we are happy to spend time pointing you in the right direction.
The Hebridean Celtic Festival takes place annually in July when the island comes alive with art and entertainment. There are village shows on most saturdays in the summer months and here you can often see highland games and dancing and admire the fine animals that compete for "the best of" categories.
