Casa Florence is a beautifully restored Spanish home, and offers you every comfort and modern facilities to enjoy your stay here. Property Managers will meet and greet you at the property and help settle you in.

Ideally located on a small residential urbanization, you are just minutes from the local beach and "paseo" - a lovely long paved walkway, perfect for strolling or cycling along. There is also a huge swimming pool and children's paddling pool within the delightful communal gardens.

The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles,(one with king-sized bed). The other has double bed and outside a small terrace with table and chairs, perfect for enjoying your early morning cup of tea or for relaxing as the sun sets. The third bedroom has a single bed with space for a child's cot. There is a family bathroom including a full-sized bath/shower on this first floor.

Leading from the first floor a large terrace with sea view offers space to enjoy al-fresco meals, or soak up the sun on the loungers. There is a full-sized awning for those who prefer the shade too.

The ground floor has a modern fully-fitted kitchen. (For those who enjoy cooking there is a 4-part ceramic hob, fan-assisted oven, and microwave,) dishwasher and washing machine, a "chill-out" room, living/dining area and a WC/shower room.

There is small, very pretty and enclosed rear garden, scented with lavender, lemon grass and jasmine. The living area leads out onto a terrace which has a large awning you can use if you prefer the shade. There is garden dining furniture, ideal for you to enjoy your meals outside, a BBQ and sun loungers. It is a perfect place for relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. In the cooler winter months the heating units afford a cosy winter break.

The enclosed private garden is safe for your children, and should you require any baby equipment such as a high chair or travel cot, we may be able to organize the hire of these items for you. (Child car seats are available if you require us to provide airport transfers.)

There is ample garden furniture for you to enjoy your meals outside, both in the garden and on the top terrace.

Inside, dining furniture seats 4 adults and the sofa and chairs will seat 4 adults comfortably.

There is Sky FreeView installed at the property, and free WI-FI. There is also a water cooler, so delightful chilled mineral water is available "on tap."

Picnic cool boxes, ice packs non-breakable crockery etc is all provided to enable you to enjoy long lazy days out - whether exploring or relaxing on the beach.

Although the house is suitable for those with restricted mobility, we would advise you that the bedrooms are all situated on the first floor, accessed by the staircase.

A car is not essential to enjoy your holiday but advised if you plan to travel around the surrounding areas. However taxis are plentiful, there are frequent inexpensive local buses, and amenities are within easy walking distance. A recently-opened Aldi supermarket is a 2 minute stroll from the house, where you can find pretty much everything for your everyday needs.

If you do not wish to hire a car, there are bus services from Malaga airport to Malaga City bus station, and from there frequent buses to Torre del Mar. Taxis can be taken from the airport, or we can arrange alternative airport transfers upon request. There are also local hire companies should you decide to hire a car for excursions once you are at Casa Florence. We can recommend www.rentacarcaleta.com for their prices (no hidden extras) and excellent service (they collect you from the airport - so no waiting in long Q's for hours for your car, and return you to the airport at the end of your stay should you decide to hire a car for the duration of your holiday)

The Costa del Sol region

Andalucia offers so much for the holiday maker - whether you are on a short "City Break" or aiming for a relaxing holiday - you will be enticed into visiting the stunning "white-washed villages" so typical of this area. Small narrow, winding streets, terracotta roof-tiled houses and small shops, boutiques and bars all intriguingly interwoven. These lovely old villages all offer their own olives, grapes, almonds, figs and home-made "terreno" wine and are pleased to invite you, the tourist to sample them.. Take a day trip and be rewarded with a glimpse of the real old Spain - much is still unchanged. Each village also has its own patron saint and the opportunity to take part in their celebrations is not to be missed.

Málaga is a fascinating city with much to offer, including shopping and visits to the the Alcazaba, the

old castle, Picasso museum and numerous typical tapas bars.

Marbella and Puerto Banus make for an enjoyable day out, for those who enjoy people-watching and admiring incredible yachts and elaborate cars.

Nerja has famous caves and make an ideal visit, especially if you need to escape the intense summer heat. The stunning Alhambra Palace, in Granada is under 2 hours drive, for an unforgettable day trip, and for winter breaks, the ski slopes of Sierra Nevada are 2 hours drive away.

The climate is very agreeable, offering plenty of sunshine all year.

Caleta de Velez

Caleta de Vélez is a delightful area nestled between the busier resorts of Torre del Mar and, slightly further eastwards, Torrox and the very cosmopolitan town of Nerja. Predominantly low-rise, it was originally an old fishing port, and there is now also an attractive marina. The lengthy "paseo Marítimo" elaborately paved pathway stretches all the way along to Torre del Mar, with numerous traditional beach bars, restaurants and cafés en route. to quench your thirst and satisfy your hunger. The whole area is reasonably flat, making early-evening strolls for a drink or a meal out easy and pleasurable.

There are large straw umbrellas and sun beds available for hire along the local beaches and a lovely way to spend a lazy day beneath the shade, watching the waves lapping against the shore, your favourite book or Kindle to hand. Many beaches have children's play area and small, fun, fitness circuits.

Local amenities include supermarkets, shops, chemist, newsagent (newspapers and magazines in English. Danish and German available),cyber café, banks and a small post office. Each Saturday morning there is an extensive street-market, selling seasonal clothes, fruit, vegetables, local souveniers and much more. Particularly good for leather goods such as handbags, shoes, summer sandals etc.

Within a 10 minute drive is a huge hypermarket within an air-conditioned shopping mall - many familiar clothes shops are here, along with cafés, restaurants and a cinema complex.

Other sports facilities close by include golf, cycling, horse riding (- you can enjoy a gentle stroll or energetic ride along the beach) scuba diving, pedalos etc.

Torre del Mar is a traditional large Spanish town offering again, shops, tapas bars and restaurants - gastronomic feasts to suit all tastes, and a thriving night life. On Sunday afternoons the Spanish families, often 3 generations together, will dress in their finest clothes and take a gentle stroll through the pedestrianised streets and enjoy an elaborate ice cream to round off the day. There are many attractive artisan stalls in the night market held alongside the beach in the summer months.

Further inland, beyond Vélez Málaga, the main town of this region, is the stunning lake Viñuela, with a spectacular mountain backdrop and the many acres of natural forest and parkland of Alcaucín.

Beyond Nerja, heading eastwards towards the Costa Tropical the landscape changes again and a trip to Marina del Este, near La Herradura is thoroughly reccomended.

There are fabulous photo opprtunities in this lovely area known as the Axarquia, for amateurs and enthusiasts alike, and much inspiration for artists.

"Costa del Sol - the quiet end"

Just a few miles from Malaga but a million miles from the brash resorts of Torremolinos, Fuengerola or Marbella, Caleta de Velez is a quiet small coastal town which will appeal to the discerning holiday maker looking for sunshine in a genuine Spanish environment.. You won't find British bars and nightclubs here but plenty of good value Spanish restaurants, a nice promenade to wander along, a fishing harbour and marina to explore and a good selection of supermarkets for your food shopping. If you like walking or cycling the long promenade runs from Torre del Mar to Algorroba, a distance of several miles.

The Casa is in a modern development that has a real Spanish feel to it. It is exceptionally well fitted out with three decent sized bedrooms a good sized and well equipped kitchen, a utility room, and a comfortable dining and sitting area. Air conditioning units are available to heat or cool as required. There is a large terrace at the front of the property that catches the morning sun and a small garden to the rear that gets sun in the afternoon and evening. In a long January/February stay we were able to eat lunch outside on most days and it was even warm enough to eat dinner outside on a few occasions. A car is not strictly essential as there is an Aldi store and a bakery within walking distance but is useful to get further afield to the neighbouring resorts of Torre del Mar, El Morche, Torrox and Nerja.. It also allows a wider shopping choice - Supersol, Lidl and Mercadona are all within 5 minutes drive.

Any downsides? During our stay Sky dropped Freeview channels from their satellite leaving very few TV channels (Sky news, CNN, etc). This affects the whole of Andalucia and property owners and ex-pats alike are seeking other solutions. Casa Florence has free WiFi so if you have your laptop or tablet with you, it is possible to watch the British channels on the Filmon website. Better still if you have a VGA cable, you should be able to link the PC to the TV.

All in all then a very desirable property in a true, Spanish coastal area. Thoroughly recommended if you are not seeking the high life. Don't book for January 2015 though - we will probably want to go back!

"Fantastic Value"

We hit the jackpot! This was our first trip to Spain and we found the perfect place. Close to (walking distance) the beach, great restaurants, supermarkets and the local attractions. Located in a cozy condo complex with all the modern conveniences including a wonderful pool.

The property managers, Sue and Mark, were wonderful and made sure all was a delight for our stay.
