The Fuerteventura region
The beautiful island of Fuerteventura is the second largest of the canary islands, yet the least populated, situated just 15 Km south of Lanzarote and 115 Km from the African coast.
Fuerteventura boasts a blissful average of 2938 hours of sunshine per year, this topped with the fact that the island offers in excess of 150 golden sandy beaches to explore makes the island a sunseekers and watersport enthusiasts paradise, you can try; scuba diving, sailing, big game fishing and windsurfing to name a few or for land lovers why not explore by jeep, quad bike, horse or of course camel.
Home to the windsurfing world championships every July in the south of the island, and 2004 found it hosting the spanish open golf tournament in the fantastic Campo de Golf facilities in Caleta De Fuste, further golf courses are currently under construction. 2004 also saw the opening of the Baku water park in Corralejo.
The islands impressive landscape is a mass of volcanic mountains, and plains with hidden typical Canarian towns.Puerto De Rosario has been the islands capital since 1860 and is home to the majority of the islands population.
Caleta de Fuste / Fuerteventura Golf area
The town of Caleta de Fuste is situated apx 3 km from the Camp de Golf. In the town of Caleta there are plenty of bars, shops and restaurants as well as a large horseshoe shaped beach. From this main beach there are boat trips, pedaloes, jet-bikes etc.
At the entrance to the golf course is a large commercial centre called the Atlantico Centre. Here there are shops, bars, restaurants and an excellent large supermarket. There is also an amusement arcade, bowling and cinema. There is also the new Fuerteventua Sheraton Hotel and the Elba Sara Hotel and a large beach area with sunbeds for hire. There is also a McDonalds restaurant at the entrance to the golf course.
How to get there
The house is situated within the Fuerteventura Golf Resort which is a 10 minute drive from Fuerteventura airport .(approx 10 euros by taxi). Airport pick up & Welcome Packs can be arranged. Car hire is available within the airport (Avis, Autoreisen, Cicar), this can be easily arranged via the internet prior to your arrival.
