The apartment is less than 100 metres walk from a choice of sandy beaches.
The Empordanet apartments have been upgraded to a good standard with both Wifi and air-conditioning. The four apartments are located on either the first or second floor, with balconies both front and to the rear. They are light and bright with cool tiled floors, white walls with attractive rock features and wooden doors. The apartments offer good value for money.

The entrance to each apartment is into the living room which has both sitting and dining areas with sliding doors that open onto a front balcony furnished for dining or sitting. In the living room there is a double sofa bed, so allowing the apartment to sleep 5 or perhaps 6 guests.
The kitchen is open-plan with a bar separating it from the living room and dining area. The kitchen is equipped for holiday living with a fridge, dishwasher, a two ring electric hob and microwave.
There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin which share a shower room that also houses a washing machine. The twin bedroom has two beds which are arranged end to end. Both bedrooms have access to the rear balcony which gets the morning sun.

Each apartment has two terraces, one at the front of the apartment overlooking the pedestrianised road which leads down to the small central square and the nearest beach, Port Bo, whilst the other is at the rear of the property and overlooks private gardens.

Just back from hols. Lovely time. Really appreciated your brilliant instructions on how to get from the airport to Calella – very thorough and thoughtful. Your apartment is in a great location – we didn't realise how great until we got there. Instead of moving on, as we originally intended, for the rest of our holiday we actually stayed in Calella.

PROPERTY REGISTRATION - the Catalan Government has recently introduced a new registration scheme for all rental properties called the H.U.T (Habitatge d'ús Turistic). Under this scheme only properties that are registered can be legally advertised, promoted and offered for rental on websites like Holiday Lettings. The Empordanet apartments are a registered property and the H.U.T registration numbers are HUTG - 009727 (1A); HUTG - 000001 (1B);HUTG - 009726 (2B); HUTG - 009725 (2A).
SECURITY DEPOSIT – is payable locally to the managing agent of the property on arrival. This can be done by credit card imprint which will destroyed at the end of your stay; should there be any deductions for breakages or additional charges you will be advised by the managing agent of the property.
TENANCY TIMES - the property is available for occupation between 1600 and 2000 hours (1800/1900 hours in low/mid season) on your arrival day and should be vacated by 1000 on your day of departure. Please bear this in mind when you are booking your flights. If you have flights that are arriving late we can arrange a late key collection for you.
TOURISM TAX - the Government of Catalunya Tourism Tax applies to all villa and apartment rentals. The tax is payable by all persons staying in the property over the age of 16 years. The tax is paid at the rate of €0.45 per person per night for up to a maximum of 7 nights and must be paid locally in cash to the managing agent of Empordanet when you collect the keys of the property.

The Catalunia region
Catalonia, or perhaps better known as the Catalunya region, is the area of northern Spain bordering the Mediterranean just to the south of the French border. This ancient Kingdom once extended from near Narbonne in France down to Barcelona and eastwards to include the Balearic Islands. The area was later divided between France and Spain but even today it remains fiercely Catalan, as can be seen by the numerous red and yellow striped flags proudly displayed.
Perhaps Catalunya greatest gifts to the world have been its artists, Joan Miró and Salvador Dali are both from this region, but today’s artists, the chefs of Catalunya, lead the world with their own inimitable styles and the rather exceptional cuisine, demonstrated originally by Ferran Adria of El Bulli fame and today perpetuated by the Roca brothers in Girona.
For the holidaymaker this is the Costa Brava, known throughout the world for its scenic beauty, aquamarine seas and golden sandy beaches. The most attractive area of the coast is the small area around Palafrugell which stretches from Pals and Begur in the north, south through Fornells, Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc, to Calella de Palafrugell. This dramatic coastline abounds with beautiful bays, coves and headlands, with sandy beaches washed by sparkling seas, and interspersed by glistening white villages, each very different, the perfect locations for relaxing holidays.
Inland, the countryside is mainly agricultural with some wonderful timeless villages like Peratallada and Ullastret set against a distant backdrop of the ever present Pyrenees. Visit Pals, the walled medieval city; Bisbal famed for its production of ceramics; Torroella de Montgri with its Gothic palaces, courtyards and narrow streets nestling beneath the Castell de Montgri, and the spectacular gardens of Cap Roig. There are various markets to explore, vineyards to visit and slightly further away the Dali Museum in Figueres; whilst the vibrant city of Barcelona is less than 2 hours away.
For the more energetic there are no fewer than 5 golf courses nearby; you can play tennis; follow a number of planned walking and cycling itineraries; go scuba diving; enjoy all manner of water sports; hire a boat and explore the coast; or just relax soaking up the sun on one of the beautiful beaches for which the area is renowned.
Calella de Palafrugell
Calella de Palafrugell is an attractive resort, well known for its various rocky coves, sandy beaches and excellent fish restaurants overlooking the sparking sea. Calella is popular with families, beach lovers and those seeking water sports. Holidays here are relaxed, lunches are long and the evenings are late. The paseo is the prelude to the evening meal with longer walks along the coast for the more serious hiker, one of the most popular is around the nearby headland to the next resort, Llafranc and up to its lighthouse, El Far, for amazing views over the whole bay or south along the ‘Cami de Ronda’ to the gardens of Cap Roig.
There are many local festivals in the surrounding towns and villages - on 23/24 June the Festa de St Joan is marked all over the region with bonfires and firework parties; in July and August the Cantada d' Havaneres musical festivals and the annual International Jazz Festival held in the beautiful gardens of Cap Roig just to the south of the resort.

"A good apartment in a great location"
We were pleased with Empordanet. Calella is a superb seaside town - one of the best we have been to in many years of travelling to Spain. The apartment is well located about 150 metres from the beach - its not luxurious, but had all the facilities we wanted, including a good size balcony. Car parking was not provided, but we didn't have any problem parking in nearby side streets .. however this was not in peak season. We were impressed with admin and management of our booking both by UK agent and the local people: very clear and lots of information on routes and local things to do and see.

We stayed for 1 week in the height of the summer season, the apartment was great, quite modern and had a washing machine and dishwasher which was very handy. The location was superb very close to everything and very atmospheric. The beaches are a few minutes walk away and shops, bars, restaurants and mini markets are on your doorstep. With 2 children aged 5 and 8 we felt very safe there and the local area felt safe also. The only negative is that there is not any parking for the apartment and the street parking was non existant so we had to pay 12 euros per day in a small multi storey which adds 72 euros to the cost of the holiday.
