About the home

Located right in the centre of Calella de Palafrugell, Les Voltes is set just back from the beautiful sandy beach with views over the sea. Decorated in white with blues as a contrast, the apartment is well presented and attractively furnished with a nautical theme. The apartment is light and airy, sleeps up to four guests and is ideal for a small family or just a couple.

Les Voltes faces down to the water’s edge near some of the many bars, restaurants and shops in the resort. Built on one level, Les Voltes has a south facing terrace overlooking the bay towards Cap Roig and the promenade.

Les Voltes is located on the first floor with stairs that lead up from the communal entrance to the apartment entrance which leads into a small hallway. Decorated in white with blues as a contrast, the apartment is well presented and attractively furnished with a nautical theme.

The living room has a comfortable sitting area with a settee, armchairs and a television and a dining area with table seating four. From the living room doors open onto a the furnished balcony at the front of the apartment which has views out over the beach to the sparkling sea. The kitchen opens off the living room and is separated by a sliding door. It is equipped with a four ring ceramic hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. There is a small separate communal utility room with a designated washing machine across the landing outside the entrance to the apartment.

The apartment has two bedrooms, a double and a twin, both furnished and decorated to reflect the nautical theme. The bedrooms share a full bathroom which has a half bath with a shower over. The double bedroom has a door opening on to the front balcony.

Wifi can be arranged using a ''dongle connection'' at a cost of €50 per week.

A DVD player is available on request

Doors from the living room open out to the furnished balcony at the front of the apartment and has views down to the beach and over the sea.

The apartment is set in the heart of Calella de Palafrugell overlooking a small thoroughfare which is pedestrians only in high season. There are a number of bars and restaurants in the surrounding area and the apartment is less than 50 metres to the Playa Les Voltes and the beach at Port Bo.

SECURITY DEPOSIT – is payable locally to the managing agent of the property on arrival. This can be done by credit card imprint which will destroyed at the end of your stay; should there be any deductions for breakages or additional charges you will be advised by the managing agent of the property.

TENANCY TIMES - the property is available for occupation between 1600 and 2000 hours (1900 hours in low season) on your arrival day and should be vacated by 1000 on your day of departure. Please bear this in mind when you are booking your flights. If you have flights that are arriving late we can arrange a late key collection for you.

Conditions

BOOKING PROCEDURE - A deposit of 30% of the rental is payable at the time of booking and the balance of 70% is required six weeks before the start of the rental.

We can accept payment in either Sterling or Euros, either by cheque, bank transfer or credit card, although in the case of the latter we do reserve the right to pass on any associated merchant charges.

CANCELLATION CHARGES - Should you unfortunately have to cancel your rental the following cancellation charges are payable:-

If the cancellation is made:
* More than 45 days before the start of the rental, loss of deposit
* Between 45 and 30 days before the start of the rental, 50% of the total cost of the rental
* Less than 30 days before the start of the rental, 100% of the total cost of the rental

In the light of these charges you are strongly advised to take out comprehensive travel insurance that includes cancellation cover. Cancellations must be advised in writing.

RENTAL AGREEMENT - In arranging rentals for Les Voltes, Calella de Palafrugell we are acting as agents for the local management company who are the principal for the rental agreement. Copies of their booking conditions are available on request.

The Costa Brava/Catalonia region

Catalonia, or perhaps better known as the Catalunya region, is the area of northern Spain bordering the Mediterranean just to the south of the French border. This ancient Kingdom once extended from near Narbonne in France down to Barcelona and eastwards to include the Balearic Islands. The area was later divided between France and Spain but even today it remains fiercely Catalan, as can be seen by the numerous red and yellow striped flags proudly displayed.

Perhaps Catalunya greatest gifts to the world have been its artists, Joan Miró and Salvador Dali are both from this region, but today’s artists, the chefs of Catalunya, lead the world with their own inimitable styles and the rather exceptional cuisine, demonstrated originally by Ferran Adria of El Bulli fame and today perpetuated by the Roca brothers in Girona.

For the holidaymaker this is the Costa Brava, known throughout the world for its scenic beauty, aquamarine seas and golden sandy beaches. The most attractive area of the coast is the small area around Palafrugell which stretches from Pals and Begur in the north, south through Fornells, Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc, to Calella de Palafrugell. This dramatic coastline abounds with beautiful bays, coves and headlands, with sandy beaches washed by sparkling seas, and interspersed by glistening white villages, each very different, the perfect locations for relaxing holidays.

Inland, the countryside is mainly agricultural with some wonderful timeless villages like Peratallada and Ullastret set against a distant backdrop of the ever present Pyrenees. Visit Pals, the walled medieval city; Bisbal famed for its production of ceramics; Torroella de Montgri with its Gothic palaces, courtyards and narrow streets nestling beneath the Castell de Montgri, and the spectacular gardens of Cap Roig. There are various markets to explore, vineyards to visit and slightly further away the Dali Museum in Figueres; whilst the vibrant city of Barcelona is less than 2 hours away.

For the more energetic there are no fewer than 5 golf courses nearby; you can play tennis; follow a number of planned walking and cycling itineraries; go scuba diving; enjoy all manner of water sports; hire a boat and explore the coast; or just relax soaking up the sun on one of the beautiful beaches for which the area is renowned.

The Calella de Palafrugell area

Calella de Palafrugell is an attractive resort, well known for its various rocky coves, sandy beaches and excellent fish restaurants overlooking the sparking sea. Calella is popular with families, beach lovers and those seeking water sports. Holidays here are relaxed, lunches are long and the evenings are late. The paseo is the prelude to the evening meal with longer walks along the coast for the more serious hiker, one of the most popular is around the nearby headland to the next resort, Llafranc and up to its lighthouse, El Far, for amazing views over the whole bay or south along the ‘Cami de Ronda’ to the gardens of Cap Roig.

There are many local festivals in the surrounding towns and villages - on 23/24 June the Festa de St Joan is marked all over the region with bonfires and firework parties; in July and August the Cantada d' Havaneres musical festivals and the annual International Jazz Festival held in the beautiful gardens of Cap Roig just to the south of the resort.

FLIGHTS: GIRONA-Costa Brava is approximately 60 kms from the resort of Calella de Palafrugell and is served by a number of airlines from the UK and Europe. “Amazing Views and Atmosphere” The service before and during was excellent....so easy to book and really useful information. The apartment was great, clean and finished to a good quality - would suit a couple, two couples or small family (one bathroom). The views from lounge and main bedroom across the bay were amazing with a great atmosphere, especially in the evening - balcony provided a great place for a glass wine, a spot of people watching and gazing out to sea. Noisy at nights on occasions due to rubbish collections from nearby restaurants but didn't really bother us. The restaurants were fabulous with great fish dishes, although slightly more expensive than remembered, and feet from the apartment. Recommendations for places we loved were 'Tonys' and 'Sali'. Property would have benefitted from wifi as not easily available in Calella - but Hotel Mediterrean were very helpful and let us use theirs. Overall fabulous time had by all and we didn't want to come home!
