Puig de l’Artiga is a comfortable three bedroom apartment set on a hillside in the Golfet area of Calella de Palafrugell within a well-established residence and close to the well-known Hotel Garbi. The residence comprises just 18 apartments and sits within mature grounds and benefits from a large communal swimming pool as well as a flood-lit tennis court.
Set on the second floor the apartment has far-reaching views down over Calella and out to sea from the living room and the furnished balcony. There are three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin which share two bathrooms, making it ideal for a family or perhaps a group of friends.
The apartment is about 10 minutes walk from the centre of the resort and a large number of bars and restaurants serving a varied selection of cuisine ranging from simple, plain food through to exotic plates of the most freshest fish and seafood. The two nearest beaches are the Port Pelegri and Platja dels Canyers just below the Hotel San Roc. Walks can also be taken along the ancient 'Cami de Ronda', the old pathway that runs beside the coast that used to be for spotting potential pirate raids.

The entrance is in to a hall which leads to the large open-plan living room which has a feature fireplace as well as separate sitting and dining areas. Large sliding doors open from both areas of the living room to the balcony which runs right along the front of the apartment. The sitting area has a comfortable, spacious 'L' shaped settee which is positioned to take maximum effect of the view, whilst the dining table is similarly positioned so that you can dine and soak up the views.
The kitchen is well equipped with an oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and toaster. There is also a separate laundry room which houses the washing machine.
There are three bedrooms, the master double bedded room has doors which allow access to the balcony; a double bedded room and a twin bedded room. These three bedrooms share two bathrooms, one which has a bath with a shower over and double wash hand basins; and another bathroom with a half bath and a shower over.
Wifi can be arranged using a router at a cost of €25 (2gb) or €35 (5gb) per week. This must be prebooked.

The balcony runs the full length of the front of the apartment and is furnished for sitting and dining or just soaking up the far-reaching views over Calella de Palafrugell and out to sea. The balcony is accessed from both the sitting area and dining areas of the living room, as well as from the master bedroom.
The grounds of the residence are mature with areas of grass and lawn with the canopies of pine trees providing areas of shade. The large communal swimming pool is 'L' shaped and measures approximately 17 x 8 metres, the deep end is 3 metres and the shallow end 1.2metres. There are steps into the water at one end and a ladder at the other. There is also a pool shower.
The tennis court is set in the grounds and is floodlit for evening play. The apartment also has an allocated parking space within the residence.

PROPERTY REGISTRATION - the Catalan Government has recently introduced a new registration scheme for all rental properties called the H.U.T (Habitatge d'ús Turistic). Under this scheme only properties that are registered can be legally advertised, promoted and offered for rental on websites like Holiday Lettings. Puig de l'Artiga is a registered property and the H.U.T registration number is HUTG - 009954.
SECURITY DEPOSIT – is payable locally to the managing agent of the property on arrival. This can be done by credit card imprint which will destroyed at the end of your stay; should there be any deductions for breakages or additional charges you will be advised by the managing agent of the property.
TENANCY TIMES - the property is available for occupation between 1600 and 2000 hours (1800/1900 hours in low/mid season) on your arrival day and should be vacated by 1000 on your day of departure. Please bear this in mind when you are booking your flights. If you have flights that are arriving late we can arrange a late key collection for you.
TOURISM TAX - the Government of Catalunya Tourism Tax applies to all villa and apartment rentals. The tax is payable by all persons staying in the property over the age of 16 years. The tax is paid at the rate of €0.45 per person per night for up to a maximum of 7 nights and must be paid locally in cash to the managing agent of Puig de l'Artiga when you collect the keys of the property.
The Catalunia region
Catalonia, or perhaps better known as the Catalunya region, is the area of northern Spain bordering the Mediterranean just to the south of the French border. This ancient Kingdom once extended from near Narbonne in France down to Barcelona and eastwards to include the Balearic Islands. The area was later divided between France and Spain but even today it remains fiercely Catalan, as can be seen by the numerous red and yellow striped flags proudly displayed.
Perhaps Catalunya greatest gifts to the world have been its artists, Joan Miró and Salvador Dali are both from this region, but today’s artists, the chefs of Catalunya, lead the world with their own inimitable styles and the rather exceptional cuisine, demonstrated originally by Ferran Adria of El Bulli fame and today perpetuated by the Roca brothers in Girona.
For the holidaymaker this is the Costa Brava, known throughout the world for its scenic beauty, aquamarine seas and golden sandy beaches. The most attractive area of the coast is the small area around Palafrugell which stretches from Pals and Begur in the north, south through Fornells, Aiguablava, Tamariu, Llafranc, to Calella de Palafrugell. This dramatic coastline abounds with beautiful bays, coves and headlands, with sandy beaches washed by sparkling seas, and interspersed by glistening white villages, each very different, the perfect locations for relaxing holidays.
Inland, the countryside is mainly agricultural with some wonderful timeless villages like Peratallada and Ullastret set against a distant backdrop of the ever present Pyrenees. Visit Pals, the walled medieval city; Bisbal famed for its production of ceramics; Torroella de Montgri with its Gothic palaces, courtyards and narrow streets nestling beneath the Castell de Montgri, and the spectacular gardens of Cap Roig. There are various markets to explore, vineyards to visit and slightly further away the Dali Museum in Figueres; whilst the vibrant city of Barcelona is less than 2 hours away.
For the more energetic there are no fewer than 5 golf courses nearby; you can play tennis; follow a number of planned walking and cycling itineraries; go scuba diving; enjoy all manner of water sports; hire a boat and explore the coast; or just relax soaking up the sun on one of the beautiful beaches for which the area is renowned.
Calella de Palafrugell
Calella de Palafrugell is an attractive resort, well known for its various rocky coves, sandy beaches and excellent fish restaurants overlooking the sparkling sea. Calella is popular with families, beach lovers and those seeking water sports. Holidays here are relaxed, lunches are long and the evenings are late. The paseo is the prelude to the evening meal with longer walks along the coast for the more serious hiker, one of the most popular is around the nearby headland to the next resort, Llafranc and up to its lighthouse, El Far, for amazing views over the whole bay or south along the ‘Cami de Ronda’ to the gardens of Cap Roig.
There are many local festivals in the surrounding towns and villages - on 23/24 June the Festa de St Joan is marked all over the region with bonfires and firework parties; in July and August the Cantada d' Havaneres musical festivals and the annual International Jazz Festival held in the beautiful gardens of Cap Roig just to the south of the resort.
