An ideal location for a seaside holiday for the whole family, with the addition of plenty to see and do away from the beach as well. The first floor flat is comfortably furnished and well equipped for four people.
There are local supermarkets and small shops in both Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc. The clean beach is three hundred metres stroll with good swimming and life guards in summer. A walk along the cliff top path takes only 10 minutes to the village of Llafranc again with a lovely beach.

Bedroom one has two single beds pushed together to form a large double bed and the other bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms have good wardrobe space. The lounge/diner has a small balcony which gets the morning sun and is ideal for breakfast! The bathroom/toilet has an over bath shower. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a roof terrace for drying towels clothes etc (with a fantastic view of the sea). Underground secure parking in addition to roadside parking.

The large communal swimming pool and separate childrens pool are set in attractive well maintained gardens with plenty of shade from well matured trees. Watch for the red squirrels in the pine trees! In summer the local shop is only a couple of minutes up the road with most day to day needs. Both Calella and Llafranc villages are within easy walking diatance for other day to day shopping and Palafrugell 5 minutes by car for a wide range of shopping.

BookThe Costa Brava/Catalonia/Barcelona region
This is the Costa Brava at its most beautiful. No high rise hotels and package tours. Just small unspoilt bays with attractive fishing villages and clean beaches with excellent swimming, snorkelling, diving and other watersports readily available. Inland there are bigger towns and the many historic areas of Catalonia leading to the Pyreneen mountains. The vibrant city of Barcelona is an easy day trip.
Girona again is within easy distance. This is the home region of the eccentric artist Salvador Dali and the Castle at Pubol, the museum at Figueres and his home at Port Lligat (Cadaques). France and Perpignan are a two hour drive. There are several good golf courses within half an hour or so by car.
The Calella de Palafrugell area
Calella is a delightful white former fishing village. It has escaped the overdevelopment of much of the Costa Brava further south along the coastline and as such remains unspoilt. There are plenty of good restaurants and cafes for the cold glass of rose wine whilst looking at the sea and comings and goings of the small boats. A few minutes stroll along the cliff path finds you in Llafranc, a little more sophisticated than Calella but as with Calella very popular with the Barcelonistas who come for 'the weekend', so that even out of season on Saturday and Sunday there is plenty of life in the bars and cafes.
Essentially much of the beauty of the location is the magnificent scenery and peace and quiet one can find. Palafrugell is the nearest 'large' town 5 minutes drive inland with a large and lively Sunday morning market and good upmarket shops. To explore the many picturesque villages inland and within easy range including Begur, Pals, Peratalada, Tamariu, San Marti and Empurias Bravas a car is advised. Hot summers, mild winters with many lovely clear sunny days.
With the beach so close and glorious cliff top walks the car can stay in the garage!

The flat is about 45 minutes by car from Girona airport. There are most major car hire companies represented at the airport such as Hertz, Avis, Budget, as well as various more local companies Auriga Crown,Goldstar, Atesa, National. Taxis (large) are always available at a cost of some 75euros to Calella. In high season there is a 'hopper bus' from the airport servicing some coastal resorts. There is an airport shuttle bus to Girona and then buses to Palafrugell and taxi to Calella de Palafrugell.Ryanair low cost airline fly regular services into Girona from many parts of Europe and mostly throughout the year. Barcelona airport is approx 75minutes, - a major international airport as well as Easyjet and Ryanair low cost.

This apartment in Calella de Palafrugell has an excellent location, just steps from the beach. The village is very picturesque, surely one of the best spots on the Costa Brava. There are excellent walks along the cliffs going to neighboring villages. The apartment is nice. The complex has a private pool and garden. The pool is large and clean. We never saw other guests there during the week. There is an underground garage. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The owners provided excellent communication. There are really no negatives to mention, other than an occasional plumbing problem, and the street gets quite noisy during the day on the weekends when the day visitors arrive from Barcelona. |

The apartment is very comfortable and nicely decorated. The swimming pool and gardens are immaculate and a major bonus, as is the secure underground parking. The location of this apartment is superb. It is just a five minute stroll down on to the beaches of Calella - which were great for swimming or you can take the costal path in either direction to numerous other coves and beaches. There are plenty of restaurants for all budgets within walking distance as well as several small shops. If you want to venture further afield there are lots of places to visit and things of interest for all ages. We particulary enjoyed the Sunday market in Palafrugell, where we also found some great playgrounds and a lovely toy shop. Cap Roig botanical gardens where also worth a visit and even our 4 year old enjoyed the instalations and sculptures in the grounds. We found this part of the Costa Brava unbelievably beautiful, not overly touristy and a wonderful all round destination. We will definately be back! |
