A traditional village duck pond and watch out for sheep in the street.

Caldbeck is one of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages and is ideally situated for exploring the Lake District, the Scottish Borders, the Eden Valley and the North Pennines. The surrounding area has so much to offer everyone, steeped in history, dating back to the 13th century, it has seen many changes over the centuries. Industries have come and gone. Many of the village buildings were built in the 17th Century and are now housing New Shops and Local Services catering for visitors and locals alike.

The area is one of the more remote and lesser known parts of the Lake District, but boasts some outstanding scenery and some of the best, less frequented walking in the whole of the Lake District.

Superb walking and cycling exists within easy reach of all the villages in the Northern Fells, catering for all levels. You can travel for miles and not see a soul - enjoy the peace & quiet and listen to the birds singing. This really is a great place to spend some time.

"Cosy cottage in quiet location"

We were welcomed by the very friendly Nicky, who took time to explain everything to us. The cottage was just as we had hoped - comfortable, very cosy with the wood burning stove roaring in the living room. The village of Caldbeck offers everything for a short stay - frindly pub, PO, local store, cafe and craft shops, all of which are fairtrade. There are pleasant walks from the doorstep and the big climbs of the northern lakes only a short ride away.

Highly recommended.

Very many thanks for taking the time to give a review which gives a lovely summary of Beckside and Caldbeck.

"Cottage had integrity and character yet more than you'd expect in terms of 21st century convenience."

Dog was welcomed not just tolerated (bowls, towel, biscuits provided). Very well equipped - great kitchen, bathroom and log burner. Lovely village location - well-stocked friendly shop 5 minutes walk, large village pond across the road. And best of all the walls weren't all magnolia - hooray!

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review for our cottage, I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay
