Downs view is a traditional-style detatched farmhouse property located in the heart of the Island's beautiful countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – it is only a 5 minute drive from local village shops, farm shops and pub/restaurants. The spectacular rural beaches of Compton Bay are nearby and the property is ideally located for the Island's network of footpaths and bridlepaths; being close to the Tennyson Trail.

The area is popular with walkers, riders and mountain-bikers who all enjoy the spectacular views from the downland walks and the trails through Brighstone Foerest. The property has a good sized-garden with lots of space for dining 'al-fresco' and for children to play in. This Victorian property was completely refurbished in 2007 to provide modern facilities whilst retaining its period charm and is designed for country living. It has under-floor heating mostly under flagstone floors and a fantastic, large, light and airy farmhouse kitchen opening onto the garden.

The front door opens into a Reception Hall with flagstone floor which leads on to the well-equipped Farmhouse Kitchen/Breakfast Room with its American-style fridge-freezer; flagstone floor, large electric double oven range cooker; dishwasher, double sink, Victorian dresser, moveable Island unit, Dining Table (10-12) and Pantry. The kitchen is well-equipped and 2 pairs of French Doors open onto the garden.

The Sitting Room has a flagstone floor, plenty of easy seating, bookcase with plenty of holday paperbacks, television/DVD and south-facing French Doors opening to the garden.

A side 'stable' door is most-often used and provides easy access to the parking area and connects to the Kitchen via the Boot Room with its sink ,small 'drinks' fridge and ample space for outdoor boots and coats. The downstairs Shower Room has a walk in shower , w.c. and basin.

-The Playroom/TV room has plenty of games, sofa and a television/DVD.

-Laundry Room – with sink, Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer

Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms, ( Master Bedroom 1 (double) with en-suite bathroom with a large bath and walk-in shower, 2 basins and w.c ; Bedroom 2 (double); Bedroom 3 – (twin) ; Bedroom 4 (twin); and Bedroom 5 ( fitted double children's bunks). The twin rooms have quality truckle beds where the secondary bed can be put away beneath the primary bed.

The master bedroom and kitchen particularly have beautiful farmland, downland countryside views

Short breaks are often available.

These prices include all bed linen, bath towels, tea towels, etc. and electricity and heating via the mainly underfloor system powered by an eco-friendly ground source heat pump.

Refundable breakage/damage deposit: £300.00 on house

Equipment provided: Heating via eco-friendly, ground source heat pump, open fireplace, electric double oven range cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine, tumble dryer dishwasher, American-style fridge-freezer, separate drinks fridge, iron & ironing board, 2x Colour TV/ DVD, garden furniture, books, duvets, pillows and all linen. A few logs may be at the property for the fire and there is a basic BBQ for which charcoal is required.

Booking details:

The general changeover day at Downsview Cottage is Saturday, however this is flexible. The minimum stay is 2 nights, however only weekly stays are permitted during the main holiday periods. Please feel free to contact us for any special requests.
