BookThe Costa del Sol region
The Costa del Sol is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world: its miles of beautiful, sandy beaches and fantastic weather have kept tourists flocking back year after year to resorts like Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola and Marbella. The Costa del Sol caters to the young and old alike, offering a host of entertainment choices for both natives and visitors.
The coast boasts one of the highest concentrations of world-class golf courses to the extent that it is often dubbed "The Costa del Golf."For families there are theme parks, including water parks, go-karting, safari parks and many beautiful public gardens. For younger visitors the main areas of attraction are Benalmadena's Puerto Marina & '24-hour square' and Puerto Banus in Marbella. Both are very trendy and chic, but be warned: the bars and clubs don't get busy until near midnight and stay open 'till dawn.
The area's infrastructure is well organized with the new Autopista del Sol providing access from Malaga to Estepona and beyond to Gibraltar. The old N-340 coastal road (now also called the A-7) is a little slower but offers some lovely sea views as it winds its way along the coast. Links between Granada, Seville and Cordoba are easily accessible for those wishing to venture further inland. The International airport has regular flights to most major cities, and is located just 10 minutes from Malaga City centre and within 30 minutes by car from most other popular resorts on the coast.
The Calahonda / Sitio de Calahonda area
Calahonda sits mid-way between prosperous Marbella and bustling Fuengirola on the Costa Del Sol, boasting approx 300-320 days of sunshine each year. It is some 44kms from Malaga airport and therefore offers a very short transfer time (approx 25 mins).
The town has a peaceful air to it, with large areas of green, four golf courses and various restaurants, cafes and pubs. There are plenty of opportunities for enjoying water sports.
Calahonda is very well serviced for Supermarkets, Restaurants, Banks, Medical Centres, Pharmacies, Gift shops and the numerous Beach bars and entertainment. Just a 2-minute walk from the apartment there is a little square with 3 restaurants and a small supermarket. As you descend down the hill towards the main road and beach you pass numerous restaurants and bars as well as a Golf and Tennis club. Towards the beach side there are 3 main shopping areas- El Zoco, Los Cipresses and Los Olivios, all with large supermarkets including Mercadona, Lidl and Supersol.
Health care needs are provided for by 2 chemists and three medical centres, offering 24 hour service. Furthermore, the state-funded Hospital Costa del Sol is well known as the Coast's state-of-the-art medical facility and is just minutes from Calahonda.

The accomodation was first class, very clean and well appointed with stunning views right over to Gibraltar. I would recommend the use of a car. There are a few local bar/restuarants within walking distance of the apartment which i can highly recommend. This is a good location for someone who likes a quiet holiday and a chance to recharge their batteries. |

Spent some time here this July with my wife and had a fantastic time. The apartment is spacious and has everything you need. The fantastic roof terrace is brilliant for sunbathing and the lower terrace is ideal for alfresco dining, evening drinks etc. We spent lazy days at the apartment and used the shared pool or took a leisurely 25min stroll to the beach. You dont need a car but is useful get the full benefit from the location with Marbella, Puerto Banus a short drive and slightly longer to Rhonda or even Gibraltor. We did have a slight problem with the TV (not that we watched it much, used it for radio through the Sky box) and the owner organised it to be fixed within a day! Overall a great holiday. |
