Calahonda Home from Home
About the home
El Puente III is set in well maintained, mature gardens on the upper slopes of Calahonda. Our apartment is located in a block to the side of the pool, so just a short walk to go back to get an ice lolly or a cold drink from the fridge!
The little supermarket at the bottom of the steps has it's own bakery for freshly baked bread & yummy pastries to have with your morning coffee on our terrace, looking out toward the sea.
Calahonda is centrally located & makes a great base with numerous attractions & places to visit within an hours drive. The perfect venue for families or couples.

The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom & double doors leading out on to the terrace. The twin bedded & double bedroom have a separate shower room/toilet. The apartment has marble flooring throughout & due to its elevated position, enjoys cooling breezes at even the hottest times of the year. There is air conditioning in the lounge & free standing fans in all bedrooms.
We have Satellite TV with all English channels & a large selection of DVDs to suit all tastes, should you choose to have an evening at home. There are also books & board games.
We have tried to think of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible & also provide the following items:
* Towels for the beach/pool - giving you more space in your suitcase for shoes!
* Beach umbrellas & chairs to save on rental charges!
* A cool box so you can take your drinks/snacks with you on your days out/visits to the beach
* Free Wi-fi available - why go to an Internet Cafe when you can sit on the terrace with your lap top & a glass of wine?
* Basic cleaning materials & dishwasher tablets (nobody wants to buy those on holiday!)
* Complimentary coffee/tea/sugar & some milk & cold drinks in the fridge - just to get you started!
Further details outdoors:
El Puente III has a good mix of both permanent residents & holiday guests. It is an established community in a perfect location.
The large pool has a separate children's area & is attended by a lifeguard during July/August/September. There are fixed straw parasols on the grassy area along with a large pine tree offering natural shade all day long. Even at the peak times of the summer months the pool area offers a quiet & relaxing environment for those who prefer not to go too far & a refreshing venue for a quick dip when arriving home after a "long hard day" at the beach!
Due to the hillside location the apartment is not suitable for those with walking difficulties & has steps leading up to the security gate of the community.
There is no assigned parking space but parking is never a problem, especially when you become in tune with the Spanish way of doing things!
Further details
* We can arrange the hire of cot/highchair - payable locally
* A meet & greet service is provided by our English property managers who live up in the hills just five minutes
away from El Puente III
* For guests who prefer not to drive, we can arrange airport pick-up/drop-off & shopping trips if required. There
is also a tractor engined road train that comes by every hour & goes down to the bottom of Calahonda to both
shopping areas & the beach from morning to early evening
* Our property managers are contactable by telephone & willing to help with any questions you may have about
our home or the area
Conditions
* A deposit of 50% is required to secure your holiday on booking
* Balance to be paid 12 weeks prior to departure or immediately if booking is made within 12 weeks of
departure date
* A refundable breakages/damages deposit of £200 is required with your final balance - this will be returned
within 10 days of your departure providing our property managers have found everything to be in order
(Of course, minor breakages will not be charged for, but we would appreciate that you let us know so that the odd plate/cup/glass can be quickly replaced)
* Smoking is permitted on the terrace - but not inside the apartment please (there's nothing worse than a
reformed smoker, & that's me!)

The Costa del Sol region

The CDS is one of the most popular destinations in Spain. The mild climate makes it possible to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities all year round. There are many places of interest to visit along the coast:
* The historic city of Ronda
* Malaga (not just the home of the airport) has a beautiful cathedral & Picasso Museum - take the tour bus &
explore the whole city
* The Alhambra Palace in Granada
* Gibraltar is a must - take the cable car to the top of the rock to see the Barbary Apes, wander through the
narrow streets & indulge in some duty free shopping (don't forget your passport!)
* Take a day trip (or treat yourself to an overnight stay) to Tangiers
All these trips can be booked locally or why not be daring & go under your own steam with a map?!
There is information about all the above & more (including maps) in the apartment
The Calahonda / El Puente III area
Calahonda has numerous restaurants to suit all tastes. There are two large supermarkets, banks, internet cafe, pharmarcies, hairdressers, newsagents & gift shops.
The N340(A7) is picked up at the bottom of Calahonda. This is the road to take you to everywhere you want to go. During the rush hour, get on to the AP7 (Autopista del Sol) which is a toll road running parallel & avoid the queues.
BEACHES
BONO'S BEACH/ROSARIO - About a ten minute drive toward Marbella along the N340. This is my favourite, with a great bar selling food & drinks. Take the umbrellas/chairs from the apartment, don't hire - spend the money you'll save on a cocktail from the bar!
FUNNY BEACH - A fifteen minute drive toward Marbella, this beach has proved popular with our visitors who have children as there is plenty to do there such as watersports, banana boat, go-karting etc
CABOPINO BEACH - Exactly, an eight minute drive away, this a beautiful beach that backs on to a small marina with a great selection of restaurants
Turn off the N340 at any point on the "sea side" of the road & you will find a beach - make a note of any good ones in our Visitor's Book please!
There are many places to visit within a 30 minute drive of Calahonda & I have listed just a few of them:
MARBELLA
Visit La Plaza de los Naranjos in the older part of town where you will discover little shops, art galleries, tapas bars & bistros. Go to La Alameda park & take a horse & carriage ride through Marbella & soak up the atmosphere. Go to Goya (not far from where you the horses are) where you'll find the best selection of cakes & pastries to have with your cafe con leche! End the day with a stroll by the sea along the Avenida del Mar
BENALMADENA CABLE CAR
Definitely worth a visit & easy to find adjacent to Tivoli World. It climbs 2600 metres up to Mount Calamorro. The ride takes 15 minutes & the views of the coastline are spectacular. At the top go & see the birds of prey - eagles, falcons & even vultures, the show is free of charge. There's a cafeteria where you can buy a cold drink, I wouldn't recommend the food. If you're feeling energetic follow the marked paths & walk up to the very, very top.
AQUALAND WATERPARK
A great day out for thrill seekers & the largest waterpark on the CDS. Shuttle buses run directly to the park from Playamar Beach, Torremolinas
SELWO ADVENTURE PARK
More than 2000 animals in an adventure park/zoo. The park has overhead walkways, jeep safaris & slides on a flying fox over lakes. Not a trip to take on a boiling hot day!
TRADITIONAL WHITEWASHED SPANISH VILLAGES
The closest is Mijas Pueblo - the others are Casares, Coin & Istan. All are detailed with routes in the guide books in the apartment
GOLF COURSES
Too numerous to mention - there is a nine hole course a 10 minute walk from the apartment
OCEANA HOTEL & SPA
A great place to go for Sunday Lunch, overlooking the sea. The spa offers a variety of luxury treatments - why not spoil yourself before returning home?
There is information about all these & more in the apartment, including some money off vouchers (not for Oceana Spa I'm afraid - although I'm working on that!)

The attention to detail made our stay very comfortable. The apartment is furnished and equipped to a standard which made it that bit different to the normal 'run of the mill' apartments. With a restaurant and Mini-market on your door step, makes it very handy for those evenings when you don't want to venture that far - whether eating in,or out! We will certainly return again, and would highly recommend it to others! 'The Strutts' |
