Villa Rivendell is an ideal family holiday villa as it can accommodate a large extended family or two families sharing. It is maintained to a very high standard and is constantly being updated. Photos in photo display are no more than a year old so you can be sure that you get what you see.
Villa Rivendell has just undergone further renovations with the last two bathrooms, plus kitchen and utility room having been totally refurbished to the very highest standard making this a luxurious holiday home.
In 2012, new beds were purchased for the upstairs twin and double bedrooms plus new sun beds and other garden furniture Plus a total refit to the upstairs double en-suite bathroom. The swimming pool steps were resurfaced and the surrounds properly cleaned to return it to its original state.
All of the bedrooms in the villa have been re-tiled with marble tiles for 2011 and the master and guest bathrooms have been very tastefully re-furbished and fitted wardrobes built into the upstairs twin bedroom.The games room has also been enhanced with a partial refurbishment.
New for 2010 was a flat screen TV in the TV room, the villa was re-tiled on all the outside patios and porches in 2009. It is still fresh from it's entire re-paint in 2009 when new lighting was also installed throughout the villa.
The villa is alarmed, air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter. Reception rooms and bedrooms are set on two floors with a fabulous games room and bar in the basement. Although a car is not essential, there is ample parking outside the gate and in the courtyard and driveway with a secure gated entrance. The ground floor comprises of a spacious hallway with a bright, stylish well-fitted kitchen, complete with white units and black marble work tops. There is also a cosy breakfast corner with a separate laundry room leading off. This opens onto a small terrace at the back of the house which leads to the dining terraces.
The comfortable lounge has a dining area, with a feature fireplace and a quiet reading corner with an additional T.V. and DVD player. There is a further TV lounge/family room leading off this with UK cable T.V. a Playstation 2 and flat screen TV.
Off the hall is a bunk bedroom, a cloakroom and a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The twin bedroom can be made up as a king size bed if preferred by guests.
Upstairs is a master double bedroom (king size bed) with an en-suite bathroom and dressing-room, a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and a twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The latter two bedrooms both have feature mezzanine floors.
Outside, leading off the lounge are two comfortable furnished dining terraces, one covered and one with a retractable awning. These overlook the landscaped garden and attractive kidney shaped pool. The gardens are mature and mainly level with gently sloping lawns. The bar and games room is reached via the garden and houses a pool/billiard table and table tennis table. An additional TV and DVD player allows the younger ones to be in the midst of activity during those pool and table-tennis competitions! There is also a bar fridge to chill your favourite drink and a shower and cloakroom to rinse off in if you've just had a swim.

Linen and towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels. If you forget, they can be purchased quite reasonably from the hypermarket La Canada on the way to Marbella or from Dunnes Store (Morrissons) hypermarket this side of Fuengirola or in Fuengirola Town.

The villa is accessed via electric gates controlled with a remote or directly through the side gate which can be activated via the intercom located in the kitchen. A driveway leads round the house to the courtyard area where there is ample parking. The gardens are mainly lawn with many colourful flowering trees along the borders. There are two porches suitable for dining, one covered by the eaves of the villa and the other with a retractable awning, both have garden furniture. The villa is extremely private and is not overlooked. It is bordered to one side by a green belt area which ensures privacy.
Access to the pool from the house is via a gate which can be secured with a padlock if small children are present.
The availability calendar is updated almost daily.
British management agents are at hand to help with any problems which might arise during your stay.
There is a weekly maid service included with mid-week maid service available upon request. The gardens and pool are regularly maintained to a very high standard by our gardener.
Check-in time is 4pm on the day of arrival and check-out time is 10am on day of departure.
Bookings from students or groups of singles not accepted, if a booking is made and details are not disclosed to the owner then the owner reserves the right to cancel the booking without compensation.
Only guide dogs required by clients are welcome, sorry no other pets.
Smoking only permitted on the terraces.
Refundable deposit of 300 pounds sterling for damage/breakages which will be refunded upon inspection of the property. 200 pounds sterling per week required to secure booking with the balance payable no later than 6 weeks before your stay.
The Costa del Sol region
Calahonda has excellent road connections with access to the motorway leading to Malaga, Marbella city centre, Estepona and Gibraltar.
The climate is described as a micro climate as the area is so well sheltered by the mountains which surround the Costa del Sol.
The beaches along this coast are safe and within a few minutes drive of the villa. You will find many shops, bars and restaurants within a short walk. The busy and contrasting resorts of Fuengirola and Marbella are both a fifteen minute drive and are popular for shopping and nightlife.
Known locally as Costa del Golf, this area has in excess of 40 golf clubs to choose from and so is a golfers paradise. You are sure to find what ever you are looking for, whether it is variety or a course to suit your ability. Santa Maria and Santa Clara courses are both within a few minutes drive. You can either play a round of golf or simply use the driving range. The well known golf clubs at La Siesta and Cabopino are also close by as is Puerto Cabopino, which is also famous for its very attractive marina, stylish restaurants and fabulous beach with attending life guards and First Aid hut.
The famous Costa del Sol racecourse is just a twenty minute drive away, for those who enjoy a flutter, alternatively there are casinos in Marbella and another a little further in San Roque.
There are a number of excellent go karting and quad-biking facilities within a short drive. Also water skiing, para-sailing, and other water sports activities plus tennis and paddel facilities are also close by.
The Club del Sol is only 5 minutes away and offers tennis, squash, racket ball, and a gym.
Across from the Club there is a 9 hole golf course. Another tennis club, The Azrtec Club, is situated in Riviera which is a five minute drive or a 30 minute walk. There are excellent facilities available there including a gym with a variety of high quality exercise classes and personal training, activity club for the kids during the summer months, football sessions for the kids every Sat and Sun plus during the week in term time, mini-golf, restaurant, pool and bars and of course tennis coaching and court hire. You can rent all of your equipment there at a nominal fee. There are also a number of mixed social tennis sessions available. Peasae check the notice board in the villa for further details.
The nearest Ski resort is at Sierra Nevada which is a two hour car journey from Calahonda.
For the kids the excitement of Aqualand in Torremolinos or the Mijas Aquapark in Fuengirola and Tivoli Amusement park in Benalmadena are approx a fifteen minute drive away. There is a wonderful Wildlife Safari Park, Selwo Adventura, in Estepona and in Fuengirola there is a tastfully designed modern zoo. In Benalmadena you will find Selwo Marine Animal Park with daily dolfin shows and just opposite is a beautiful public park with a lake and plenty of birds and animals and play equipment to keep the children busy for the day. You can either bring a picnic or use one of the cafes in the park, but don't forget to bring bread to feed the birds and the fish. Dolfin sighting boat rides with underwater viewing windows and fishing trips go from Fuengirola frequently each day. For those who have a head for heights, you can take a cable car ride to the top of the mountain from Benalmadena ( just opposite Tivoli World) where you will find Birds of Prey shows at certain times of the day whilst you enjoy the fabulous view.
La Cala de Mijas is a recommended local beach resort which also has a twice weekly street market. The beachfront fish restaurants and its attractive paseo make it very popular with the locals and holidaymakers alike.
If you enjoy street markets then a visit to Puerto Banus Saturday market is a must. It is approx a twenty-five min drive away but get there early, it can be extremely busy. There are many other markets in the towns dotted along the coast, check the free English local paper (Sur) for this and other useful information. Sur is available free from supermarkets on Fridays but supplies may be limited so get in there early.
Plaza Mejor near Malaga has an excellent outlet mall with Nike, Levi and Calvin Klein and many other major brands as well as a huge food court and a cinema showing some of the latest releases in English speaking movies. You can also catch the latest releases in English in Parque Miramar in Fuengirola. This is a relatively new shopping centre with a hypermarket, variety of shops, places to eat and a large cinema. Take the second exit to Fuengirola just after the castle, drive under the road and the Miramar Centre is straight ahead. Again check the local Sur paper for details.
The villa has good access for reaching Malaga, Gibraltar and other inland beauty spots such as Mijas, Monda, Rhonda and the beautiful city of Seville. You have a choice of the toll road (AP7) or the N340 which is the coast road.
The Calahonda / Sitio de Calahonda area
Calahonda offers a wide range of child friendly restaurants to tantalise your taste buds and a variety of bars and clubs many within walking distance so you don't have to worry about driving home. You can even get your fish and chips from a British run chippy. There are supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, English speaking Medical Clinic, gift shops, flower shops, shoe shops and plenty of other shops catering for British holiday makers all within 1 kilometre. There is also an English card shop should you have a celebration whilst on holiday situated in Los Jarales.
In the El Zoco centre, the local shopping complex, there is a small amusement arcade suitable for children and also one of the supermarkets in the area, a huge variety of restaurants, foreign exchange and other shops. Ladies can even do a bit of clothes shopping as there are a couple of nice boutiques in the centre or visit the salon for some beauty treatments. There is also a new Supersol with underground parking just off the big roundabout at the end of Av de Espana heading towards the AP7 called Los Olivos.
McDonalds is situated on the other side of the N340 towards Calahonda beach and has a children's play area, if you go look out for the free child tickets to Selwo Adventura, Selwo Marina and Telerifico in the Happy meal boxes.
Heading out of the cul-de-sac where the villa is situated onto Avenida de Espana, cross the road and to your left is a small children's park with swings and slides.
You can take a ride on the "local transport" through the entire development of Calahonda from outside Supersol Supermarket. It is a tractor in disguise which pulls carriages, similar to the form of transport used in Disney and Universal parks. Just ask the driver to let you off by the Atlantic Aparthotel which is close to the entrance of the cul-de-sac.

Calahonda is situated 35 km from Malaga Airport which has excellent links with most airports in the UK and Europe. British Airways, British Midlands,Iberian Airways, Easy Jet are just some of the airlines which arrive at Malaga every ten minutes in the summer months. From here, car hire can easily be arranged, if not already pre-booked with all the major companies such as Hertz and Avis as well as local Spanish companies being represented in the basement of the airport terminal and in the car park outside. There are taxis waiting outside the airport, which will take you to your destination, should you choose not to hire a car. There is a choice of routes to Calahonda either along the coast road where you will see within metres just some of the fabulous beaches en route or along the motor way which gives breath taking views of the mountains and sparkling sea below.

My family and I stayed here for a week in August . What a beautiful, clean and spacious villa, in a quiet area . The pool was a great hit with the children as was the games room , The people where friendly in the local bars and restaurants, Ana from property finders was especially kind and helpful, nothing was to much trouble her . The local market in mijas on wednesday was a good morning out , take your towels and relax on the beautiful beach afterwards. We didnt hire a car instead we used the local taxi service which was excellent and reasonable plus they didnt have any trouble finding the villa! or take a 30 min stroll along the beach to the harbour, where there is another beautiful beach taxi cost 7 euros back overall a great place and excellent holiday
