The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

The Costa del Sol is widely regarded as having the best all year round climate in Europe with more than 320 days sunshine a year. The local beach is 5 minutes walk away and Puorto Cabopino a secluded picturesque port and beach just five minutes drive. The new road from Malaga airport to Calahonda takes about 30 minutes.


Calahonda / Sitio de Calahonda area

Calahonda is a large Spanish town built on a hillside. Ocean Point is located near the base so is ideal for walking to the beach and restaurants. Further larger beaches at La Cala and Cabopino are 5 minutes drive or a bus ride away. There are 2 main commercial centres with supermarkets, gift shops, banks etc. and a weekly street market at the nearby village of La Cala approx 6 kms away. Calahonda is a great place to holiday with much to do locally and within easy reach of both Marbella and Fuengirola, golf courses, tennis clubs, and watersports.

Tivoli World Amusement Park with its cable car rides is suitable for adults and children, set in beautiful landscaped gardens, with over 40 rides and numerous shows. This is approx 15 -20 minutes drive away in Benalmadena.

Waterpark. Fuengirola, ten minutes drive away (or bus ride) has a large water park, zoo, shopping centre and beach as well as some wonderful tapas bars.

Both Marbella and Porto Banus have wonderful beaches, restaurants and luxury shops.
Porto Banus is also famous for its habour and yachts.

There are a number of golf courses in the area and on Calahonda itself there is a nine hole course. Miraflores and La Chaperell, both within 10 minutes drive, are 18 hole courses.

The picturesque town of Mijas is 20 minutes drive into the hills and is famous for its views, white houses and donkeys.

If visiting Gibraltar which is about an hours drive away you will be able to see St. Michaels Cave, the apes, and go on dolphin tours, but your passport is essential.



How to get there

Calahonda is situated between Marbella and Fuengirola, 30 minutes from Malaga Airport. 2 1/2 hours flight from the U.K. Numerous budget airlines fligh into Malaga. Car Hire firms and Taxi services available.
