JUNIPER is superbly positioned in the small family complex of SIESTA MAR 1. Overlooking the swimming pools, children's playground and mature gardens. This apartment is very light from side windows and not overlooked.
The apartment is well appointed for 5 people. The spacious lounge's has a sofa,dining table,(inside & out) large glass doors, open onto a terrace, (cd player/radio). The kitchenette, is well equipped,new cooker, fridge.(iron,micro,toaster). The bedrooms have new beds,ample wardrobes, fully furnished, ceiling fans and standing fans give comfort in the hottest months.

JUNIPER, has been owned by us from prebuild.We have tried to make it a 'home from home'. The lounge is spacious and comfortable, with a dining table ,inside & out. Evening meals on the terrace ! The main bedroom has twin beds and ample wardrobes, a chest of draws, lit side tables and a full-length mirror. It has a central ceiling fan. The second bedroom has bunk beds and a single bed, a large chest of draws, wardrobe, & standing fan. The bathroom has a full size bath, bidet, toilet and shower.

Both balconies have outside lights for evening entertainment. The paths in the gardens are lit in the evening.
Outside there are swings seesaw, climbing frame,children's pool, large pool,sunbathing terrace, mature shady gardens, parking, tennis, terrace / patio, and sun beds. To the front is a spacious private terrace, to the rear a balcony direct from the bedrooms.
The water is perfectly drinkable. SIESTA MAR 2 has bars,pools and water slides, games room and restaurant. It is just next door.
Further details
We have a manager to take care of the apartment. The rubbish is cleared nightly.
Conditions
The deposit is £40 per person. The balance due 8 weeks prior to departure.
The apartment must be vacated by 12.00 unless an arrangement has been made with the manager.
The cases can be left on the terrace.

The Cala'n Porter area
CALAN PORTER was the first purpose built resort on MENORCA. Situated on the south coast, gives it a sunny climate. CALAN PORTER is village sized, it has a wealth of RESTAURANTS to suit all tastes and purses. It is primarily a family resort, the entertainment reflects this. SIESTA MAR1, is centraly situated.It is mostly privately owned and quieter than than SIESTA MAR 2 . The mature gardens are well maintained, with large shady trees. The children's playground is popular, as is the small football pitch nearby. CALAN PORTER beach is safe,clear & shallow. Pedaloes,kayacs & deckchairs are for hire. The CALAN PORTER fiesta is the 3rd weekend in Sept. Alaior Fiesta, celebrates horses and is larger and lasts 3days.

The owners apparently bought this apartment from pre-build and I suspect that little or no DIY or decoration has taken place since. It is very old and dated, especially the kitchen area, which is tiny. This will however, all become aparent when you arrive and see the "For Sale" sign outside it! We arrived late in the evening with a baby and young child, only to find that there was no means of lighting the gas hob, in order to boil the kettle & make the baby's bottle. The kettle is an old, metal type, which you have to boil on the gas hob, therefore we were stuck. We eventually bought a cigarette lighter from a nearby shop, in order to light the hob & boil the kettle!! It was more like a camping trip than a holiday apartment. The cooker & grill were extremely difficult to light (if at all). The crockery and plastic containers in the kitchen were filthy & despite scrubbing some of the containers 3 times, decided not to give them to our children. There is no TV in the apartment, which I appreciate isn't imperative for everyone, but with 2 small children & being home early in the evenings, there was no means of entertainment for neither the children nor ourselves. We were told by the owner beforehand that there was wi-fi available in the apartment (as listed on the advert), however, please be aware that there is NO wi-fi available at all in the apartment. No router, no phone point and definitely NO wi-fi. The decor is very dated, which is pretty irrelevant, however, when you find that the set of drawers in the 2nd bedroom is rotten, falling to bits & very difficult to open, you feel reluctant to put anything in there! The same can be said of some of the other items in the apartment. Also the floor tiles were uneven & cracked, meaning that the 2nd bedroom door wouldn't shut and approximately 1/3 of the cupboard space is locked and marked as private. Also there are no curtains in the main bedroom, which meant people could see in and there was no way to block out the light (we hung a sheet up in order for the baby to sleep). We twice woke up in the morning to find an army of ants in the bathroom, which had to be dealt with before allowing our children in there. The ceiling fans are adequate, but with no air conditioning, I would imagine that it can be quite uncomfortable in the hottest months. We hired a travel cot, which was arranged through the owner and in place when we arrived. It cost 50 Euros for 2 weeks and was like something out of the 1920's, with a mattress to match. There was very little choice but to use it & we paid the manager directly. We contacted the owner twice by e-mail and twice by text message when we arrived & eventually received a reply, stating that she was not responsible for lighting the cooker, nor the wi-fi. She also stated that the apartment was lovely and was suitable for most guests ......... The pool area is nice & suitable for children, but there are no sunbeds at all around it, I'm not sure why?? There are no sunbeds provided in the apartment either, so you are stuck with a towel on the concrete or grass if you wish to sunbathe. The position of the apartment is good, as it is opposite the pool, but then we had towels stolen one night when people came back drunk and went into the pool. The beach is lovely and is close, if you access it via the 180 steps. You can also walk around via the road if you have a wheelchair or pushchair, which is fine. Response: In response to your review; firstly; It is not stated that there is a T.V. It is usually too hot inside, to watch one. I consider Spanish T.V. too violent and sexually explicit for young children. secondly: There is a new fridge, new cooker, and all new beds. The apartment is in the best position, on the family complex, situated overlooking the pools, childrens playground and mature gardens. It is well equipped, comfortable,and home from home. It was 14pounds per day, per person, which represents spectacular value. It has been fully booked since 1982, revisited many happy times. ELIZABETH GROSVENOR. |
