About the home

Big villa divided in two separeate villas by a dividing wall, as you can see in the pictures, each one a mirror image of the other one. Each villa has two bedrooms, a double and a twin, a kitchen, a bathroom and a living room.

Perfect for two families holidaying together or a big family, or group of friends wanting to holiday together while keeping their privacy indoors but sharing the outside pool, bbq, sunbathing area etc... each villa fits 4 people, therefore a total of 8 people can be accomodated.

NOTE. When i say two families, is two families coming together, booking together, not two separate families that dont know each other! (just in case, i´ve been asked!)

Villa has been recently completely refurbished and equipped and now has a modern stylish feel, it is situated on a very quiet urban street, yet within 5 minutes walk to resort centre and access down to the beach.

Each villa has Air Con, Safe, Smoke Alarm, Fire Extinguisher, SKY tv, and free WIFI ..

No smoking inside the villas, but you can smoke outside or around the pool and garden.

Calan Porter is classified as one of the best holiday resorts in the island, with something for everyone, from sport bars, to karaoke bars, to modern music bars, restaurants to cater for all the tastes including the fantastic Menorca cuisine, there are many supermarkets, a hair dressers, a pharmacy, souvenir shops, rent a cars, rent a bikes, to be fair you have all that you need a few minutes walk from the villa.

The beach is one of the most liked by all the holidaymakers and locals alike, the beach is very safe and children friendly, it is a sandy bay in the shape of a horse shoe, with chair and umbrella hire facilities. There are two beach bars/restaurants and a beach shop that sells a range of items for the beach.

Both villas comprise of one double room with plenty of wardrobe space, and one twin room with fitted wardrobe, a kitchen, a bathroom, spacious living room.

Each of the villas has its own flat screen tv, dvd, sky tv, stereo system, wifi, air con, safe, smoke alarm, etc...

The villa is divided by a dividing wall, and each one is a mirror image of the other.

The bathroom consists of a full lengh bath with shower, toilet, and washbasin, a hair dryer in each villa.

Both kitches are fully equipped, with all you need, kettle, microwave, big tall fridge freezers, gas hobs, electric ovens etc...

One of the villas has two comfy nice sofas, and the other has a really big comfortable L shaped sofa. (You can see them in the pictures)

It is not permitted to smoke inside the villa, but its ok to smoke outside.

TRAVEL COT and HIGH CHAIRS available at no extra cost. (one of each)

Obviously we only rent it to families or friends that come and book together, not to two separate families or groups of friends that dont know each other.

Both lounge doors open up onto the covered terraces areas of each villa, with large patio table and six chairs.

There is a swing bench under an olive tree, which overlooks the large private pool, (9,4 m. by 4 m. ), with pool lighting and poolside shower, with plenty of sunbathing space surrounding the pool.

Sunloungers are available for use. There is a stone barbecue and plenty of outdoor lights for those wishing to dine al fresco.

At the back of the house there is a "caseta" containing washing machine and tumble dryer.

There are many garden areas around the villa.

Cleaning and linen change are included in the price , if you book for two weeks, a mid term towel and linen change is included.

Beach towels are not provided , please bring your own.

Please do not use the villa towels for the beach.

Welcome pack containing wine, bread, orange juice, milk, water etc... will be given to all guests.

Conditions

Changeover day is flexible in May and October, however Friday is the most common day and its preferrable during peak season. However, if you need another changeover day let us know we might be able to accommodate.

The Menorca region

Menorca is just 25 miles long and 17 miles wide, with a few mostly laid back beach resorts and around 120 beaches, thats more than the rest of the Balearic islands together, coves, bays, and harbours around the rocky coastline. There are several excellent prehistoric sites and places of historic interest, including grand Menorcan country farmhouses.

Mahon has been the capital of Menorca, since the British changed it from Ciutadella in 1721. The reason was the harbour; at 5 km long, over 1 km at its widest point, and 15-30 m deep, it is the second largest natural harbours in the world, this coupled with its location in the Mediterranean has made it a strategic stronghold for many nations throughout history. The city of Mahon was named after General Magon (Hannibal´s brother) a Carthaginian invader.

The port itself is relaxed by day and buzzing by night. The bars and restaurants along the quayside come alive at night and it is easy to spend many hours down on the port, watching the ships, admiring the view, enjoying the hospitality of the restaurants, or just sat taking in the atmosphere, or having fun and dancing in the may bars and pubs.

There are many things that Menorca offers to its holidaymakers, catering for families, couples and young and teens alike, its the perfect island to combine a lovely relaxing holiday during daytime, chilling by the beach, or by the pool, eating in lovely restaurants, having a quiet drink with friends, practicing sports, walking, horse riding, playing golf, water sports, water parks, zoo, etc... and then when the sun sets, the main towns and the holiday resorts get buzzing with activity, around the many bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs, again catering for everyone, from karaoke bars, to hawaiian cocktail bars, to pubs, to theme bars, to Tribute Bands, and many late night bars and clubs where you can dance the night away listening to the best actual music.

Contrarie to what you might read around, most of the nightlife starts at about midnight, and goes on until early hours of the morning. Its just a fantastic atmosphere.

Golf, Trekking around the Coastline, Beach Life, Water Parks, Relaxation, and fun are just some of the wonderful things Menorca has to offer.

The Cala'n Porter area

A large and traditional resort by Menorcan standards and the first resort in the island. Cala’n Porter is situated on the south coast, in a magnificent setting on the cliffs above a large deep beach. It is easily accessible by both car and bus, and offers everything a visitor could want from a holiday resort.

Calan Porter is the perfect place to relax and chill out during day time, and at night you have the choice to carry on chilling out in the more quiet bars and pubs, or just relax around the villa with a glass of wine or a beer, or the choice to go out and dance the night away in their many bars and pubs that are open nearly all night.

CALAN PORTER IS A "SELF CATERED" RESORT. You can find anything in the resort without the need to hire a car or even leave the resort. Remember that other resorts might not be so complete and you might need to either get a bus or a taxi or hire a car, by this we mean, supermarkets, bars, pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, kids playgrounds, chemist, car hire, bike hire, one of the most complete bus lines with the capital Mahon, souvenir shops, beach, public swimming pools, etc....

September holds the resort "fiestas" with lots of different amenities, fun fair for kids, activities in all the bars and restaurants, activities down the beach, etc... an unforgettable 3 days.

This is a busy fun resort, with a wide choice of shops, bars and restaurants. Situated on the south coast of the island, it has a horseshoe shaped bay and large gently shelving sandy beach with cliffs on each side.

The resort has something to offer for everyone, whether it is a relaxed beach holiday or a lively holiday spent dancing the nights away in the many local bars. Irish bar, Hawaian Bar, Tribute bands, Modern cocktail bars, Cosy Pubs ...

Cala'n Porter can be described as being lively, with plenty of modern bars and restaurants, and also has the largest and most beautiful and original night club on the island, built in to a natural cave, Cova den Xoroi. Set high in the rocks, it's a cave bar with fantastic sea views by day, that you can visit and enjoy a quiet drink and a beautiful and amazing sunset, and spectacular sea views. From 11 pm hours turns into a night club, with different theme nights that cater for everyone.

This club is set in the middle of a cliff, (this is why is so spectacular) to a reasonable distance to any villas, including this one, so there is absolutely no noise to be worried about, not even from the very own clubs car park can you hear the music.

Calan Porter is always popular as it caters for people of all ages. Everything is on hand, from well stocked supermarkets to bars/ restaurants, different shops, catering for all your needs.

There is also a brand new Pharmacy and a Hair dressers.

Bars and Restaurats serve everything from fast food to typical Menorcan cuisine. Some of the best chefs on the island work in Calan Porter.

Seven buses a day run into nearby Mahon during the Summer months.The distance between Calan Porter and the island´s capital, Mahón, is only 13 Km,
(15 minutes drive), and some 10 minutes drive to Mahón's airport.

From all major cities in the Uk, the main flights for the summer season to Mahon (Menorca) airport, start at the end of April until the end of October. Some comanies set scheduled flights then over the winter period , but the timetables are different each winter.

Companies that fly regularly to the island are: Easyjet, Monarch, Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook, and a few more...

The flight time to Menorca form London is aprox. 1h. 50 min. from Manchester is about 2h. 15 min and from Scotland and North Ireland in between 2h. 15 and 3 hours.

Once you land at Mahon´s Airport, there´s a wide selection of car rental companies, or take a 12 minute taxi drive and rent one once in Calan Porter where there´s also a wide selection, thats if you want to rent a car.

However theres plenty of buses runing from and to most places in the summer.

Rest of Europe, or from other countries, also you can book flights straight to Mahon, or via Palma and Barcelona, or via any other major Cities of Mainland Spain, then catch another flight to Mahon, or a Ferry. Then follow previous instructions to get to Calan Porter.

“2 villas in one” We stayed here Aug-Sep 2012 with extended family and found it great because there are two villas sharing one space. This means you have two kitchens and two bathrooms, two bedrooms in each villa and... more Response: Hi lulu! Sorry about the tea towells, the cleaners maybe did not check on that, but as i said you only had to call me or come see me and ask for more and i would have brought lots ! Jose

“Fantastic Villa!” 5 of us stayed at Villa Pilar on the 20th July for 2 weeks. My elderly parent came with us and found it very easy to get around their villa. On arrival José met us and showed us around the villa and the grounds. Both villas are the same size which are very spacious. Both well equiped with most things you would want. They are both very clean and the air con was very welcome. The pool is a nice large size although very little shallow end for my 6 year old but dont let that put you off. My son was never out of it neither was his dad! The centre of the resort is 5 mins walk with everyting you need including the Spar supermarkets that deliver and many pubs/restaurants. The beach is a 10 min walk but down 181 steps (a killer back up in the heat) but well worth it when you are there with a very clean beach and clear blue sea. All in all we had a great time and would recommend this villa to anyone. Thanks José - Joe misses googley!
