The Menorca region
Menorca is the most easterly of the Balearic islands and just a short 2 - 2.30 hr flight from most UK airports. Its area is about 700sq.km and is roughly divided north and south by the main road which runs from the capital Mahon on the east to the former capital Cuitadella in the west. Our villas are in the resort of Cala'n Porter which is in the southern area of Menorca where the scenery is gentle and undulating with deep ravines.
Menorca's coastline stretches to 200km and offers visitors a wide choice ranging from rocky cliffs to sheltered peaceful coves many of them only accessible along quiet country roads or by boat alone. It has a long and varied history having been occupied by many different forces from Roman times who have each left there own legacy.
Menorca has many archaelogical and bio-diverse sites to visit as well as tavernas to taste the local gastronomic dishes and, of course, traditional fiestas are always a delight to visiting holiday makers.
The Cala'n Porter area
Cala’n Porter was one of the first holiday resorts to be developed on the island and has something to offer everyone. Situated on the south coast and only 10 minutes away from the airport, it has a lovely sandy horseshoe shaped bay which is ideal for swimming or simply for relaxing while the young children build their sand castles.
For the older family members there is plenty of firm sand towards the back of the beach for ball games. Pedalos, beach umbrellas and loungers are available for hire and on the paved promenade there are restaurants to provide meals, drinks and snacks.
In the centre of the resort there are several supermarkets which provide all your everyday requirements and when you just want to eat out you will find a large variety of restaurants all within walking distance.
Mahon, the capital of Menorca, is only a 15 min car ride away and for those who want to forget about driving there is an hourly bus service. It’s waterfront provides a picturesque setting with many visiting yachts & ferries.
Many other parts of the island are well worth visiting from the expansive beaches on both the north & the south coasts where water sports thrive to bird sanctuaries and beautiful country walks for those who have an interest in the ecology. On the west of the island is Ciutadella, the former capital, which has a cathedral and many elegant public buildings fronting a town with traditional narrow streets.
Menorca also has a rich archaeological history. Dotted throughout the island are many talyots and megalithic remains which have been restored and are well worth visiting. In the centre of the island is Monte Toro which at 350 metres is the highest point of the island. It provides excellent panoramic views and can be reached by car.

Budget airlines such as Easyjet and Jet2 also now fly from several UK airports to Mahon.
