The Menorca region
Menorca is the second-largest of the Balearic islands and has the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve designation, having a wealth of flora, faunas and landscapes.
The island has some 180 miles of highly varied coastline, with reddish beaches in the North part of the island to more golden sandy coves in the South. Menorca has almost as many beaches as both Majorca and Ibiza combined.
Another of Menorca’s attractions is its archaeological and cultural heritage. On the island, you will discover interesting monumental sites as well as prehistoric remains.
The capital of Menorca is Mahon (also referred to as 'Mao') and boasts the second largest natural harbour in the world. Being a lively port you will find a large number of restaurants to choose from, as well as many other attractions.
Cala 'n Porter is a highly popular holiday destination with families. The resort proudly sits over cliffs on the South of the island and beneath it lies a large sandy beach with clear blue waters. The beach can be accessed via steps, road or a "mini train."
The resort, by Menorcan standards, is lively and has a number of restaurants, bars and shops. There is, also, entertainment for the children in the form of an outdoor play area as well as the "Fun House."
At one end of the resort is a disco called, "Cova d'en Xoroi," which is situated in the cliff face. During the day it serves as a relaxing place to visit and to enjoy a drink overlooking the open sea.
