About the home

This luxury 3 bed, 3 bath ground floor apartment is furnished to a very high standard. It has air conditioning and heating for the winter period. The apartment is on a small complex of just 5 apartments which share the pool and well kept gardens and is gated. The beach is less than 5 mins walk from the complex where sun loungers and parasols can be hired. Cala Dor Marina is less than 10 mins walk away with an abundance of superb restaurants. A car is not necessary as everything is within walking distance. The Centre of Cala Dor has several walk ways full of restaurants and bars, there is also crazy golf to keep the children and adults entertained.

This spacious air conditioned 3 bed ground floor apartment which sleeps 6 - 8 people has a fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, toaster, fridge freezer, table, chairs, washing machine, iron and ironing board. The lounge is tastefully furnished with settees, side units, coffee table, lamps, freesat tv and dvd player, leading to two terrace areas with table and chairs looking onto the pool and gardens. There are 3 bedrooms all with en suite bathrooms. One double room and two twin rooms. All have wardrobes, bedside tables, lamps and hair-dryers. A cot and high chair can be provided free of charge.

There are two parts to the main pool, the main pool goes deep and then there is separate shallow pool for toddlers and babies. There are sun loungers, parasols and a bbq for guests to use. The complex is completely secure and the gardens are well maintained. There is parking space outside the complex.

Cala Dor is located on the South East Coast of Mallorca, it is a 45 mins drive from Palma Airport. Car hire is not essential for this area, as everything is within walking distance.

There are so many wonderful sandy beaches in the area with their turquoise waters and restaurants serving fresh fish dishes. The nearby fishing villages of Cala Figuera, Porto Petra, Portocristo and Portocolom, can be visited by boat.

The Cala D'Or / Cala Egos area

Cala Dor has a lovely Marina with great restaurants which is only a 10 minute walk from the complex. In Cala Egos there are plenty of lovely restaurants / bars all within 5 minutes walk from the complex

Es Forti beach is 5 mins walk away from the apartment. Glass bottom boats visit this beach and you can take trips to other local beaches and attractions in the area.

The lovely beach of Cala Mondrago is a 15 min drive away and definitely worth the visit - Porto Petra is on the way so why not stop off for lunch in this picturesque fishing village. If you don't have a car the Cala D'or Express (road train) visits the wonderful beaches in the area including Cala Mondrago, Cala D'or Beach, Cala Gran Beach and a great way to see the area.

There are several local weekly markets at the nearby towns of Santanyi and Felanitz which are only a short bus ride or drive away.

Many flights are available to Palma de Mallorca from all major UK airports with most of the budget airlines such as Bmi Baby, Jet2, Easyjet, Thomsonfly and more ........ www.skyscanner.com is also very good for cheap flights. For car hire at the airport www.carjet.co.uk are very competitive or transfers can be arranged for around 70 euros each way for up to 4 people.

“lovely apartment” We have just returned from 10 days stay in one of the apartments and had a fantastic holiday. As we arrived and opened the door we were greeted with lovely clean, bright and fresh smelling environment. The owners were very helpful but not obtrusive, we had no problems but if we had they would have been there to help. The situation of the apartment was ideal and would not require a car as everything was handy. I would definitely recommend the apartment to others.

“The apartment and location could not have been better!” This was our first family holiday abroad, with a 19, 15 and 5 year old. After lots of research we booked Villa Sol Mar in Cala Egos, Cala D'or for 11 nights. From the moment we arrived to when we left it could not have been better. The apartment was beautifully furnished, clean and spacious. The gardens and pool area were maintained to an excellent standard and the proprietors were regularly on site. They were incredibly welcoming and friendly, full of helpful advice for first time visitors. The pool was fantastic and kept everyone cool and fully entertained, much of the time we had it to ourselves. The paddling pool area was great for our youngest although she was able to stand up in the shallow end and spent a lot of time in the main pool. The owners very kindly supplied a welcome pack of water, bread, butter, etc which was really helpful. The location could not have been better, it was definitely in the best part of Cala Egos, which is all very nice anyway. The apartment and its location would suit a disabled person as it is all on the flat. It was literally three minutes walk down to the local beach, Calo de pou, and to the local shops and restaurants in Cala Egos centre. We were only five minutes walk to the beautiful marina with its lovely cafes and restaurants. We took the land train several times around the marina into Cala D'or late afternoon (about £10 for our family) and then walked back in the dark, when it was still warm, late at night. It was the safest place I think I have ever been, there was not even a hint of 'loutish' behaviour and it was fully of couples and families. Enjoyed crazy golf in Cala D'or three times, although not cheap. Tourists mainly German and Scandinavian, Spanish and English. Plenty of choice of places to eat and never any trouble getting a table. Beaches were busy as it was school holidays, but beautiful and clear turquoise water. Would recommend the boat trip to Cala Mondrago beach - absolutely stunning and our teenagers enjoyed the 'jumping off the boat' into the sea. Recommend Beatriz (lovely menu and food), Tony's Bar in Cala Egos and in the centre of Cala D'or we liked Don Leone's, by the marina had a fantastic meal on our last night at Zocalo. Everywhere we went the locals were helpful and friendly. Eroski supermarket in Cala Egos was good for supplies, although there are two Spars in the main street, but a bit more expensive. Local buses are great and we took a trip to the Caves of Drach (about an hour away), very friendly bus driver! All in all, the holiday could not have been better and the location and apartment were spot on. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend staying there - can't wait to go back one day! Used Resorthoppa to get to and from airport and this was fine, although on the way the driver seemed unsure of where he was and the coach picking us up was half an hour late, but still got to the airport early.
