The Mallorca/Majorca region
Famous for being discovered by a group of artists in the 1930's, Cala d'Or is a lively area surrounded by pine-covered headlands and whitewashed buildings. In days gone by the harbour area was filled with boats bobbing on the waters, these days you are more likely to see the "chic" Cala d'Or marina surrounded by waterfront restaurants.
Cala d'Or has seven beaches, of which the biggest and most popular is Cala Gran, all with fine white sand and clear shallow water. The larger beaches have good facilities offering a range of water sports including sailing, windsurfing and scuba-diving.
Cala d'Or became a desirable spot to have a holiday. The resort has now spread out to include seven of these coves, all now filled with attractive hotels, apartment blocks and villas. Cala d'Or is extremely popular with families as there are plenty of facilities for families, couples & children.
The local bus service is good, reliable & cheap so you can take excursions to the resorts of Porto Colom, Porto Cristo, Cala Bona, Cala Millor or the many markets held throughout the week. We recommend Felanitx Sunday Market for browsing and haggling with the locals. If sightseeing is your thing, jump on a bus to the nearby monastery of San Salvador and look at the breathtaking views from the top of the mountain.
Cala D'Or area
There are trampolines and mini go-karts at Mallorcalandia, which is at the end of the road, (half a minute walk), as well as mini-golf in the town centre. Those wishing to explore the areas can take a 'champagne cruise' along the coastline, ride one of 3 mini-trains around the resort or to the picturesque village of Cala Mondrago with its two beautiful coves.
On the Cala Gran Beach, hire a pedalo and peddle out to the yachts and boats bobbing about, whilst you sit back and gaze at the stunning scenery. There's also the infamous, fun packed "SeaRider" trip for the more adventurous! These can be booked from the Marina.
Cala d'Or is known as the best shopping district on Majorca. The town's main shopping street, Avinguda Tagomago, is filled with fashionable boutiques, leather shops and galleries.
Nightlife in Cala d’Or is tasteful and stylish, rather than frenetic, centred around the many bars and discos. There are an abundance of bars to choose from, whether you just want to sit & relax on a warm terrace with a jug of the local Sangria, or want something a little livelier, Cala D’or has something for everyone. There are several karaoke bars for the budding singers, cocktails bars offering a spectacular choice of wet & wild drinks, disco bars, where you can dance the night away to the early hours, & family bars offering children’s entertainment & party atmosphere. Every year in the second week of August, Cala D'or has a festival with market stalls, live bands playing in the square and a grand firework display on the last evening.
Cala d'Or's upmarket restaurants are situated in the centre, which is usually buzzing with a lively international crowd enjoying a variety of cuisines. The restaurants offer everthing you could possibly want, tapas bars, pizza parlours, burger joints and much more choice for all tastes. We recommend Grill World, which is just off the main shopping street, where you will get a warm welcome from Lianne & her team, & the best food around. Try the homemade Apple Pie, one of Mick’s favourites. At the marina try Zoccolos for snacks and sandwiches, & a paella second to none.

PALMA Airport is only 45 minutes drive to CALA D'OR. Taxis are approx 60 - 80 euros one way (4 passengers) (£42 - £57) Local buses to Palma go regularly throughout the day for as little as 7 euros one way (£5) Car hire is cheap & easy to book on line. Most airlines offer additional car hire with discounts, once you have booked your flights. Watch out for ROIG, EUROPA, AUTO RIGOS, BUDGET, AVIS, these all offer the facility of picking up your hire car from the airport & leaving it in resort. Prices start around 25 euros (£18)

Further details indoors: The apartment benefits from being ground floor, with a large enclosed terrace overlooking the pool and gardens. The apartment is open plan and has all mod cons, as it is newly built with air conditioning in the lounge. It offers an American style open plan kitchen living area with double electric hob, microwave with double grill and toaster and kettle. We also provide an iron with board. The living area has a double sofa bed and 2 armchairs with bookcase and coffee table. There is a plasma TV, Sky freeview sat tv, DVD player and separate CD player. Bedroom 1 has a safety deposit box in the wardrobe. We also offer a fold down table with chairs.
Further details outdoors: The large L shape terrace offers 2 seater sofa and 2 armchairs with matching coffee table. There is also a wrought iron stone top table and 6 chairs for al fresco dining. In addition, there is a mobile BBQ for guests to use. There are 4 sunbeds The gardens offers a play area for small children, swimming pool and shower. There is a brand new washing machine / tumble dryer available to the community and secured private parking. The gardens and pool are not overlooked, and there is a pedestrian door onto the road with automatic lock, adding to the safety theme. All the apartments look out on to the pool and gardens. The railings have had rafia style covering put onto them, to add privacy. There is private parking for one vehicle per apartment, with automatic gates to the car park.

The apartments are 2 minutes walking to the Cala Gran beach, and 5 minutes walking to the town centre, Cala Esmerelda and Cala D'or beaches. The nearest bars, restaurants and shops are at the end of the road, a couple of minutes walking away. The local road train stop is half a minute walking from the apartments.
Conditions
A 200 Euro (£120) refundable deposit is requested on arrival to cover any damages. Normal wear and tear is taken into consideration. Pounds Sterling or Euros accepted.
