On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen with fridge, Senseo and microwave/oven, a large bathroom with separate shower, bath and two sinks, a separate toilet, a living room with opening doors on the private terrace with garden furniture and Weber BBQ. Upstairs are two bedrooms and a small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. There is a television and DVD player in the living room and in one bedroom, electric heating and the hot water supply is heated by solar energy. It has standard linen and towels for kitchen, bathroom and bedroom and the final cleaning of the gîte is included in the rent. The private swimming pool (10 x 5m), shared jointly with the other gîte and us, has a spacious sun terrace and easy chairs is at our guests disposal all day long.
The property is surrounded by a carefully tended garden in which lavender, olive trees, rosemary, lilac, fig and fruit trees, rose and butterfly bushes give off all the colours under the sun. There is an enclosed private swimming pool in the garden with sun terrace and deck chairs and a large "Jeu de Boules"-field. A large children's playing area lies behind the swimming pool with playground equipment and toys. There is also a small farm in the wood with chickens (Silky's). We also have more animals to welcome you: three medium sized dogs and three cats all living in harmony together and very friendly to our guests of course!
Should you wish fresh rolls and croissants for breakfast, you can have them delivered at your door from 8h30 o'clock in the morning. There is also the opportunity to have a delicious four course meal with regional products on the estate served with great pleasure by Thera and Gerben, your hosts, by prior arrangement. Naturally the young ones are catered for with a children's menu. Further details outdoors:
The scenery around the estate is absolutely breathtaking whatever the season However, throughout the year every evening you'll hear the owls as you gaze up, overwhelmed by the wonderful night sky. It is hardly surprising that the region in which Le Chant de Verdier lies is also known as the Triangle Noir (the Black Triangle). With a total absence of any light pollution, there is the joy of gazing up at the most beautiful star-lit skies.
The Chant du Verdier estate is located in the department of Lot on a hill in the beautiful region of Les Causses du Quercy in the small hamlet of Le Verdier. The landscape in the south easterly part of the Lot is very typical. The hilly plateaus of chalk (Les Causses) typify the region along with their splendid views from all points of the compass. The ground is sometimes rugged and meadows and oak woods abound. Lovely old stone walls form the division between fields and woods put there by the locals hundreds of years ago. You'll also come across round stone dwellings, called Caselles, where shepherds and goatherds sheltered from the weather or spent their nights there. The small town of Carjac is but four kilometres away and has all the usual facilities and amenities. There are supermarkets, bakers, butchers, restaurants serving delicious regional dishes, pavement cafés, a chemist's, a doctor's surgery, a tourist office and two markets where you can buy all the local produce you need. There is also the Centre d'Art Contemporain Georges Pompidou gallery which is not only affiliated to the Centre Pompidou in Paris but was also founded by the French president, Pompidou. The exhibitions of contemporary art, held from spring until autumn, are well worth a visit. In the old center there are two more art galleries to visit. Furthermore we invite you to taste the wonderful wines of Laurent at Aux Fils des Saisons!

Enquire nowThe Midi-Pyrenees / Lot region
In the south-west, Midi-Pyrénées, which lies between Aquitaine to the west and Languedoc-Roussillon to the east, is a large région with a size almost equivalent to that of Switzerland and Luxemburg put together. It has eight départements, each with its own strong character. Magnificent mountain scenery can be found both to the north and south of the region. The north east encompasses part of the Causses which is high plateau country. This is a land of plains dotted with hillocks, sandy stretches, moors and pine woods, desolate plateaux, and little valleys covered with impenetrable forests. The birds and small animals feed on the thyme and juniper growing wild in the chalky soil and as a result are hunted for their delicious and individual flavour.
Lot is a département that has become very popular with foreign buyers, particularly the British,, because it neighbours the long popular Dordorgne. Character property, particularly in the beautiful bastides (fortified villages), is less expensive here. The Lot is noticeably hotter and drier than the Dordogne. Here the serpentine River Lot and its many tributaries have cut dramatic gorges into the dry limestone plateau. Aside form our estate we also run an independant real estate agency so if you are looking to buy a house in this region (Lot, Aveyron, Tarn-et-Garonne and Tarn) we are at your service! www.qpsfrance.com
The Cajarc / Le Verdier, Cajarc area
Picturesque towns in the vicinity
15 minutes driving north from Cajarc brings you to the charming town of Figeac, known for the writers that lived there. The town also boats a few excellent restaurants and an attractive market on a Saturday morning. To the south of Cajarc, some twenty minutes driving away, lies the town of Villefranche de Rouergue with its beautiful cathedral and typical French market on a Thursday morning with a wide choice of regional specialities. The medieval town of Cahors is also certainly worth a visit with its art galleries, shops and restaurants, not forgetting the famous place of pilgrimage, Rocamadour, with its black Madonna.
Bon vivant
The region around Lot is a paradise for those who really enjoy life to its fullest! The area is renowned for its wine (Cahors and Gaillac), goats' cheeses (Rocamadour and Cabécou), foie grâs, maigret de canard, saffron, truffles and the (liqueur and oil from) walnuts. It seems that every season is a celebration of regional delights: the saffron festival in Cajarc in September, the wine harvest festival in October, the truffle market in Lalbengue in January, seeing the newborn goats and lambs frolicking in the meadows and sampling fresh cheeses in spring.
