Caithness is the most north east county on the British mainland ,with a flat landscape it is famed for it's big skies and rolling flow country, one of the last wild lands of Scotland , all along the coast there are stunning cliffs and castles dotted all along. In Caithness we have a wealth of unexcavated archeology that rivals that of Orkney, but if you want to see Orkney it can be reached by boat from John O'Groats or Gills bay which is 30 mins drive from Wick.
The Castle of Mey ,was the Queen Mother's home for a few weeks in the summer and is half an hour drive from us .
The Caithness / Wick area
Wick is a small harbour town that was built on the herring fishing until the 1920s. It is home to The Old Pultney whisky distillery who provide guided tours and small dram at the end.
The Caithness Seacoast tours are run from the Marina in Wick and is a great way to see the coast line which has lots of sea caves, stacks , birdlife, harbours, lighthouses and castles.
The Wick Heritage centre is well worth a visit and and houses the well known Johnston photographic collection.
There is horse riding, surfing and all sorts of activities available. Each let will be provided with up to date information on events, activities and places to visit.
