Melness is a coastal village in the Northern Highlands, one of several crofting townships, which grew up around the coastline following ‘the clearances’ in the area. Melness is in the heart of the "Mackay Country" and offers sandy beaches, coastal walks and bird watching. Durness is within touring distance, where you can visit Cape Wrath, Smoo Cave and the Durness Golf Course. Take a 1 hour drive along the coast, and catch a ferry to Orkney or travel further afield and visit John O'Groats and The Castle of Mey.
