The flat is large enough to accommodate a family but is also intimate enough for a couple. Tastefully decorated in calming neutral tones and furnished to a high standard with comfort and convenience a priority. The apartment boasts a large open plan dining/living area with ample space to relax and entertain. High definition satellite TV, DVD player and a music system are provided as are a selection of DVD's, CD's and games.
The kitchen is fully and professionally equipped with all the usual amenities; hob, oven, washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, juicer, blender and high quality utensils. Dining is provided for 8 persons including serving dishes, full cutlery, glassware etc
This area has a large balcony with ample space for al fresco dining or just to enjoy a drink whilst taking in the sights and sounds of the local area.

The Cairo Governorate region
Cairo and Egypt are renowned for their rich history particularly the Pyramids. Cairo has been central to Egypt's history for over 5,000 years.
Cairo is one of the world's largest urban areas and offers many sites to see. It is the administrative capital of Egypt and renowned for its Pyramids of Giza. however there are also many more pyramids near to the City as well as ancient temples, tombs, Christian churches, magnificent Muslim monuments, and of course, the Egyptian Antiquities Museum housing the world famous treasures of Tutankhamen.
Cairo is an amazing city full of life and movement, and it is that way almost 24 hours every day, with the noisy honking of car horns, children playing in the streets and merchants selling their wares and services. The City provides great culture, including art galleries and music halls, such as the Cairo Opera House. Cairo also offers an incredible selection of shopping, leisure and nightlife activities. Shopping ranges from the famous Khan el-Khalili souk, largely unchanged since the 14th century, to modern air-conditioned shopping centres.
Particularly good buys are spices, perfumes, gold, silver, carpets, brass and copperware, leatherwork, glass, ceramics and mashrabiya. Try some of the famous street markets, like Wekala al-Balaq, for fabrics, including Egyptian cotton, the Tentmakers Bazaar for appliqué-work, Mohammed Ali Street for musical instruments and, although you probably won't want to buy, the Camel Market makes a fascinating trip.
The Ministry area is part of the larger area of Sheraton and is a quiet upmarket residential area. Close to the Fairmont Towers Hotel and conference centre and local shops and amenities.
There is both a Mosque and Church in the area. The hugely popular City Stars shopping centre is around 10 minutes away and contains a Hotel and Cinema complex, restaurants as well as 100's of shops both Western (eg Virgin, Timberland etc) and Egyptian plus a large hyper market and newly arrived M & S! A new shopping complex hasalso recently opened locally containing a Carrefour.
Downtown (for Museums, Khan el Khaliki etc) is easily accessible as are the Pyramids, the Nile and the Egyptian Museum.
The area is an ideal base for visits to Cairo - far enough away from the noise and dust of downtown Cairo but close enough to enable easy access.

"Not what we expected not worth the price"
We were told that on arrival to Egypt the person picking us up would be English speaking. In fact the pickup was not English speaking and we were heavily charged for a 10 minute journey to the apartme… More
Rather than deal with every individual comment in this review (several of which are outright untruths) I will respond by merely stating that this guest and family caused over £1,000 worth of damage to our home, verbally threatened and abused my husband and let their feral children run riot throughout the property. Should they ever darken your holiday letting run for the hills.

"Not exactly as advertised"
The flat is in a safe location 10 minutes from the airport (take a taxi rather than the expensive pick-up by non-English speaker - advertised that we would be met by English speaker). It's just … More
As responded to you privately we accept the blinds were not to our usual standard due to the flat being severely damaged by previous guests leaving us 24 hours to make the flat habitable, so priorities had to be made. They have now been fully cleaned and repaired. There is a 'broom' provided to dry the wet room floor as is usual in most Egyptian houses and the tap has been repaired also! Normally an English speaker would be there to meet and greet but as your arrival was on New Years Day family committments meant that this was not possible for which we apologise, although I believe you were taken to the local supermarkets etc. The private pick up is charged at cost price and factors in waiting time, airport parking costs and reliability - not usually available from Cairo taxi drivers! As to additional costs; it is clearly stated on the website and all our documentation that electricity and internet are charged for separately and the location is clearly marked. We are clear that we are not near the noisy and polluted Down Town area. Apologies for the delay in responding but as explained my initial lack of response was due to the flu!

"The best flat in Cairo..."
I have stayed in this Heliopolis apartment twice in dec, 2008 and mar, 2010. The apartment is big and it is a good size for travelers with family. And it is also romantic for just couple who just wants to have their own privacy.
I love the area. It is safe and It is very quite. Convenient stores and restaurants and currency exchange are nearby. And airport, Star city mall is also very close.
The apartment kitchen utensils and equipments have everything you need when you want to cook a good meal.
Overall this flat is beautiful and well design and comfortable. The owner Jackie and Walid are very friendly and will do their best to make sure you have a pleasant stay. Definately when i go back to Egypt will stay there again. And i hope to visit soon. I give it two thumbs up. Thank you again Jackie and Walid!
Always a pleasure to have you stay Naomi!

"One month in Cairo...the Indiana Jones Experience"
I've traveled all over the world and have seen so many different things but Cairo takes the cake. Yes I was there during the protests and NO it had no effect on my stay. The flat is nestled inside an Alexandrian suburb away from all the trouble. Heat, AC, warm showers and running water (do not drink). Satellite TV with some Western stations (I'm American) and a small library of VHS tapes can keep you entertained. NO Netflix allowed (Internet media like this is blocked by Ministry, so is Warcraft) so bring dvd's if you want to be a couch potato.
There is a local market 10 mins walk away ( you DO NOT drive in Cairo, hire a car when needed) where anything you need can be purchased (some credit cards accepted but HSBC is right up the road so use the ATM). There are plenty of little restaurants to frequent as well as a nice cafe about 10 mins walk away. I suggest trying the stuffed pigeon. It's spicy but good.
For those of you worried about getting sick, no worries there's a pharmacy local to the flat. I experienced a mild stomach ailment but I didn't follow the don't drink the water rule stated above. Please don't make this an issue, Cairo is pretty safe to visit.
I'll return for sure!
I traveled to the inner city (Sharia Al Mu'izz Li-Din Allah) bring walking shoes
For these locations I highly suggest hiring a guide...do your homework. I used Little Pharaoh Tours (www.littlepharaohtours.com) ...bring a camera and water. No credit cards!!
Citadel (Al Qalaa)
Islamic Cairo (El Hussein)
Old City (Coptic Cairo)
Mosque and Madrassa of Sultan Hassan
Mohamed Ali Mosque (Citadel of Saladin)
The Gizeh Plateau (ride a camel here, see the Sphinx, DO NOT hire a guide from here)
Mosque of Ibn Tulun
Zamalek (try the hookah, it's all the rave)
City of the Dead (well we drove past it)
Papyrus Institue ( this is a bit pricey but everything there is legitimate)
Thanks Andrew - it was a pleasure to have you stay with us - in Cairo!Hope to see you again soon.

"A luverly time in a fun city"
Firstly and foremost the accomodation was exactly as advertised. It was clean and comfortable in an upmarket block in a very respectable section of the City. Given the recent events in the country safety for me was a paramount concern and I can say that I felt at ease all the time i was in the accomodation. This is partly due to the very helpful conceirge but mostly to the flat itself which is secure and easy to locate.
It is situated in a central area of Cairo which means getting about the city itself very easy. I did my pre trip planning and then threw that out of the window the second day as i discovered new friends and went woth the flow of the vibrant undercurrent that there is right now.
All in .... a luverly time.
Looking forward to welcoming you again Noel.

""We love this perfect place""
We (a couple) have already spent much time in this apartment, which has become our second home.
At first, You are so incredibly helpful and friendly. The book is very easy and uncomplicated. The apartment is in a beautiful and peaceful place. What is very great, it's really safe. The Caretaker - such a nice man - always fits exactly on who comes and goes.
Upon entering the apartment, you feel immediately at home. Everything is very clean, the decor is very elegant and modern. The living - dining room is so cozy. The dishes are beautiful and in perfect condition. I love that there are also many DVDs and games. This is great. The bedrooms are decorated so beautifully, one sleeps wonderfully there. The bathrooms are great. Both very modern, bathtub, shower, all decorated so nice and loving.
The kitchen is wonderful. It's really all there what you need. The balcony is a beautiful, green oasis, where you can enjoy the sun. The supermarket is just around the corner, everything is great...
This apartment is 100 times better than a hotel, it's a home. Jackie, you get 7* from us :).
We are looking forward to our next stay in April 2012 and say "SHUKRAN" and in German too "DANKE" :)
You are two of our favourite guests and always welcome!
