Nice apartment at the 2nd floor of a old palace in the historical centre of the medieval town of Iglesias. The apartment has been recently restored and newly furnished. The ideal solution for relaxing/cultural/beach holidays: it is peaceful and quiet because the historical centre is today a pedestrian area. Nearby there are also some parking areas. Only 10 minutes to the seaside: from here you can quickly reach the most beautiful beaches of South Sardinia!

Cagliari / Iglesias area

Iglesias means “the churches”, in ancient Italian language. There are about 20 medieval Christian buildings that you can visit in town. HISTORY: In medieval times as today, Iglesias was the first town of South- West Sardinia. The memory of this glorious past is kept by the Castle of Salvaterra and the Pisans' Walls. Iglesias had also one of the most ancient laws code in Middle Ages, so called Breve di Villa di Chiesa. The town pride is always alive with many historical parades (with medieval costumes) and medieval tournaments. Iglesias is also in the middle of the Geological Park of Sulcis Iglesiente (recognised by UNESCO in 1998), with many mines and caves, because of the huge underground exploitation in XIX century. Today you can visit the places where miners worked and lived, in a magic atmosphere from the darkness of galleries and subways to the beauty of the green and blue nature of South Sardinia.
SPECIAL FESTIVALS: October, Wine festival all month long with traditional music and typical meals.

LOCATION: From the house you can reach in a few steps the tourist information point, the medieval Castle of Salvaterra, the Pisans' Walls, the historical town archives, the public gardens, Piazza Sella (the main square of the town), the Cathedral and all the medieval churches of the town. Close to the house, there are the most important streets with shops and services.

SEASIDE: In 10 minutes by car/motorbike you can reach from here the marvellous coastline of Iglesias and Gonnesa, rich of sandy beaches with clean and light blue sea, with long expanses of fine, golden sand, but also by sheer cliffs dropping down to the blue sea. It’s a unique experience to be so close to the most beautiful beaches of South Sardinia and find rocky and sandy coasts with no buildings all around and that are still not even discovered: this is what nature can offer you in South West Sardinia.

How to get there

Fly to Cagliari airport (45 km from Happy House) or to Alghero airport (200 km from Happy House).
Low cost flight from Ryanair and Easyjet.
Car is recommended (hire at Cagliari/Alghero airport).
Local trains and buses run regularly between Cagliari, the airport and the town.
