The North Wales region
Whether you arrive at the park via the mountain pass of Llanberis or along the craggy coast road which brings you through the castle town of Caernarfon, either way you can't help but be impressed by the magnificence of the region. The Snowdonia National Park is an area of outstanding beauty with mountains, lakes and waterfalls.
The village, Caeathro, where the Park is situated is only a short distance from Caernarfon. It is the centre of the Welsh speaking area and the town is dominated by the Castle which is one of the finest. From the town a steam Railway runs to Porthmadog through the beautiful mountainous region of Mount Snowdon. Other nearby places to visit includes Portmeirion, the Italian village in the Welsh countryside where the cult series " The Prisoner " was filmed; seaside places of Colwyn Bay & LLandudno, the isle of Angelsey where one can find the railway station with the longest town name; and visit more castles at Conwy and Beaumaris. It is possible to have a trip to Dublin from Holyhead.
