The North Wales region

Llanberis is the starting point to ascend Snowdon by foot (for the fit) or steam rack and pinion railway to the acclaimed summit cafe at 3,560 feet. The coast and the famous Menai Straits are close by on the shores of which you will find Plas Menai - a world acclaimed RYA sailing school. Anglesey is just across the famous Menai Bridge. The local area is the ultimate destination for the active with sailing, cycling, walking, climbing, exploring or simply just relaxing in the clear mountain air which surrounds this fantastic location.

Caernarfon

The Chapel is located at the foot of Snowdon, 3 miles from the town of Llanberis and 3 miles from the historic town of Caernarfon and its fine example of an Edward 1st castle built in the 13th century. The castle houses the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, Wales's oldest regiment. Caernarfon also has a variety of good bistros, bars and nightclubs and an attractive marina (Victoria Dock) surrounded by galleries and entertainment.

"WOW!"

From the moment you enter the large entrance area you get a feeling of space. Then when you get upstairs -WOW- Capel Mawr is beautiful and so spacious. This is a great base for Snowdonia and all the areas in NW Wales.

"Most beautiful Chapel"

We stayed here for a week in June 2012 and have to say it is the most magical and atmospheric place we have ever stayed in. The conversion is wonderful and the owners have utilised many of the original features to enhance the property. You will want for nothing if you stay here, facilities superb and the Kitchen is a wonder to cook in!! For a small village Llanrug is well served with two supermarkets, a chippy and a superb Butchers. Snowdon is in easy view from the main Bedroom and dining at the main Table felt like a special occasion. Dez and Amber have made this magnificent building magnificent again :-)

"Excellent Accommodation"

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed in during trips to the UK. We are from Australia and are used to staying in cramped facilities for exorbitant cost. This place was quality through and through. There was great attention to detail in all the furnishings and oodles of space. We ended up staying with three of our teenagers and because of the space, (they had intended to go on to Ireland but changed their mind when they saw this accommodation - it was just too cosy). The owner was discreet and did not interfere with our holiday which was how we like it. The location is extremely central to a range of tourist attractions and although you need a car, most places are within easy reach of the place. Highly recommended and we are likely to return.

"Stunning!"

There is no other word to describe Chapel Mawr other than stunning. It has been sympathetically and very tastefully converted using many of the original features of the chapel.
The feeling of space is amazing but it still has a very warm, cosy and comfortable air about it.
It is a real treat and experience to stay there and we would recommend a stay to anyone.
Dez was very friendly and helpful too and the stunning scenery and beautiful places to visit around Snowdonia is the icing in the cake.
Thank you Dez and Amber for allowing us to share your beautiful chapel
