“Great Stay!”
A lovely comfortable & modern house with great decor, facilities & also very reasonably priced. Excellent location, there was plenty for us to do even out of peak season. It was the perfect venue to host a break with friends & there for a great stay was had by all. Frank & Cynthia are very friendly & have done excellent job. Highly recommended & would stay again.
This is a beautiful house in a lovely peaceful location overlooking the Menai Straits. The decor is exceptionally tasteful and put together with a lot of thought. The furnishings are of high quality and the beds very comfortable. The house has everything you need for a fantastic holiday. On our arrival we were greeted by the owners, Frank and Cynthia, who are lovely people and very welcoming. The house was spotlessly clean throughout. The pictures do not do the house justice, it is more spacious than the pictures suggest. If I had any complaints the only thing I can think of is the sofa, it is so comfortable that every time my fiance sat on it, he fell asleep. We stayed at the house for seven weeks and loved every minute of it. We will definitely recommend it to friends and family and look forward to going back again next year.
Response: Hi Jackie
Thank you for the lovely review,we to have enjoyed having you as our guests And look forward to you and your family returning next year.
Best Regards Frank and Cynthia

“Great facilities, a home from home, excellent views of Anglesey”
A great place to stay to explore North Wales. A real home from home with lots of comforts to make the stay a more enjoyable experience. The property was very clean and as we stayed over the New Year the owner had added some Christmas decorations. We did have to contact the owner about the hot water system, he was very helpful and resolved the problem over the phone.
The property was very comfortable with plenty of room, a pub nearby which was excellent for an evening meal. There was a chinese takeaway just up the road again very convenient if you didn't want to cook.
I would definitely recommend this to anybody.

Had a great stay at Frank & Cynthia's holiday home. The location was the best we have stayed in. Views were amazing. Lovely walks and only short drives to some great destinations like Caernarfon castle, Conway and Llandudno. The house was welcoming and had everything we needed. Would stay again.

“If the location suits this property is highly recommended.”
Frank and Cynthia Wilson have made this property a real 'home from home', all you could wish for is here. The propertv is very well cared for and spotlessly clean; the kitchen has everything you need and the view from the dining area and lounge across the Menai Straits to Anglesey is most attractive.Car parking is directly by the front door making carrying luggage in and out very easy.Once you have settled in you might find it difficult to leave and if the location suits you will be back !!

“Perfect Base for a Relaxing Break”
We stayed here at the end of September having being invited to a wedding in the local area, and were joined by friends from Newcastle who have a young child. The house was perfect and spacious enough that we weren't under each others feet, very comfortable and everything provided that you need. The local area is beautiful and the view across to Anglesey from the living area is stunning. We visited the local bistro following a recommendation by Frank - my only regret is that we left it until the Monday to visit having been there since Friday as the food was delicious!
Clean from top to bottom with excellent decoration. The bedrooms and bathrooms were first rate and the lounge very comfy having wonderful views over the Menai Straights. There is a friendly pub and restaurant just around the corner and a village store within 200m. The location is nice and quiet and central for visiting all the North Wales attractions. A very helpful owner who kept in touch throughout and was readily available. A car is needed and there are 2 parking spaces.
An all round enjoyable holiday.liked

“Beautifully appointed and perfectly situated home near all they best sites North Wales has to offer!”
We are from the US and went to Wales for our belated honeymoon, bringing our 8 year old daughter with us.
We spent a wonderful week at Gwel y don, exploring all the nearby sites during the day and using this beautiful home as our retreat at night, sitting by the fire unwinding from our busy days. There was plenty of room to accommodate us and another couple who joined us for a few days, and it was so nice to have a rental with 3 modern/updated bathrooms. The shower in the master bath even has a great oversized waterfall shower head, which was amazing! The house decor is also very pretty, and I loved that it is all very modern/updated. Especially the kitchen, which is perfectly set up to cook breakfast before you head out for the day and/or dinner at night, if you don't feel like exploring one of the nearby spots. Add to that The front balcony, which has a lovely view of the Menai Strait, and the gas fire place, and you have all you need!
The house is in a great location, just a short drive to lots of fun places and castles. As there is so much to see and do that we didn't do it all in one short week, so we hope to return. Thank you, Frank, for your hospitality! You made us feel so at home even though we were 3,000+ miles away! Karen, Kevin & Olivia

This is definitely the best holiday accommodation we have stayed at in the UK. We were warmly welcomed by the owners on our arrival which added that extra personal touch. The property has fantastic facilities and is extremely tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We couldn't have wished for a better place as a base for our holiday. The local facilities are also very good. My husband and I particularly enjoyed the short stroll to the nearby pub on an evening! Our dog also enjoyed this experience although he would have preferred to swim in the river if he had had his way! The property is part of a stunning development by a marina and it is lovely to walk around the harbour and view the boats and the outstanding surrounding scenery. My son and my parents also enjoyed their stay here and all that North Wales has to offer. A fantastic holiday! We wish we could have stayed longer!

“Well situated House in a quite area; Good Starting Point for many trips.”
We had a great family holiday at this property (two weeks). The house was well situated for walking and tracking holidays in the Snowdonia Hills. The weather was very kind to us, so we made a lot of tours in the mountains and on Llyn Peninsula. Coming home tired in the afternoon, the house had enough place for chilling out. We enjoyed the view and the afternoon sun on the balcony. The house had everything that you need.

“Enjoyed every minute of the stay”
The house had everything we needed and was excellent for our holiday. Contacted Frank a few times with questions about the house and our stay and he was very informative and helpfull each time. The location was excellent for everything we were wanting to visit in North Wales and we had a short drive to most of the attractions. We all enjoyed our stay and unfortunately the week went far too quickly.
“A very well presented house in an ideal situation for exploring North Wales”
The house was very well laid out for our situation with the parents and children sleeping on the middle floor with two bathrooms (one ensuite) and we, the grandparents, on the bottom floor with our own bathroom. With the living room and kitchen on the top floor, there was a great view over the Menai Strait towards Anglesey. This was our first time to Wales and the Wi-Fi was well used searching for places to visit, not that there was a shortage, we could have stayed another week and still have been finding more. Gwell y don is in an excellent location for seeing North Wales, it is central to all the attractions as well as being in a quiet area. There was also ample parking for two cars in the drive. Frank and Cynthia were keen to have everything in place that was needed, especially for the children. They have an excellent house, very well specified and we have no problem recommending both it and them. Hope to meet again sometime.

“Excellent , modern comfortable house”
What a find this house is, we have stayed at holiday cottages/ houses all over the uk and have to say this is the tops! Comfortably furnished and up to date fittings, that all work perfectly ! Great location for exploring the area and with quality local pubs and restaurants within walking distance, when we are in the area will definately book again.
Response: Dear Derek and Jan

“Great family holiday home”
We had a great family holiday at this property. We found the owners very professional and easy and pleasant to deal with whist arranging the stay and also welcoming and helpful on arrival at the property. The house was very clean and well appointed. The beds were comfy, good shower, great lounge area with balcony and lovely view and plenty of space for the six of us. The house is in a great spot, which makes touring the area easy. We had a brilliant day at the Greenwood Forest Park. Our 7 and 5 year old boys thought it was amazing and we would certainly recommend it for families with children under 10. We enjoyed an evening stroll (literally a 2 minute walk) to the local pub, which served good food and had a nice atmosphere and appeared to be welcoming of tourists and locals alike. Best holiday we have had in the UK for ages.

“A great location and house for a family holiday”
The house was exactly as described, Frank showed us around the property on arrival which was clean throughout. Lovely views over the river and good local walks. We were holidaying with our two sons aged 17 and 12 who enjoyed having a room and bathroom each as well as our own en-suite bathroom. The house was warm, using the heating for the cool evenings. We toured locally and would recommend Beaumaris, and Conwy as attractive towns. We walked from the house to Caernarfon Castle along the dedicated cycle route. The boys went to the Caernarfon skatepark. Our attempt at Snowdon was thwarted by heavy lying snow from the previous day so we only got to the halfway house but the weather was perfect and sunny, maybe next time! We would also recommend the quad biking near Pwlheli. On the last night we ate at the Austrian Restaurant which was good fun and we would highly recommend it. A great location and venue for a North Wales holiday. We would definitely recommend it for groups and families

“Very comfortable”
We spent a wonderful Christmas time in this fantastic house. The living room was adorned very lovingly for Christmas. The location of the house makes numerous excursions possible. Frank, the owner, is very helpful and within reach for questions at any time. We, a family of five, found sufficient space in the house. This accommodation is one of the best we have ever rented; we also spent a pleasant evening in the nearby pub. We can recommend the house very much and thank Frank for everything, wishing him and his family all the best. Thomas and family from Germany.
The House was meticulously prepared and had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The owner Frank was extremely helpful and even sorted out the accommodation at really short notice - Brilliant service all round.
Can't recommend highly enough - a wonderful base to explore all that North Wales has to offer.

“Excellent”
Brilliant! The location is perfect very central for exploring Anglesey and Snowdonia. The house itself is superbly finished with quality fittings throughout and a great view from the sofa across the Menai with a pretty church on the far bank.I loved the bass fishing and the bass eating. We had a fabulous time and were very sad to leave. Thanks Frank we loved it.

“Fantastic house, fantastic location!”
Stayed at Gwel Y Don in September 2011, and had an absolutely lovely time. The owner was very helpful from start to finish, and incredibly service minded. Gwel Y Don itself was spacious, well kept and contemporary in style. Also, the view from the balcony/livingroom was gorgeous, and it really was a joy to get up in the morning to sit on the balcony with a cup of tea!
We didn't have a car available when we stayed at Gwel Y Don, which turned out to be fine as there are pubs and a shop right nearby, as well as a bus stop where buses ran regularily to either Caernarfon or Bangor. Y Felinheli in itself was absolutely charming, and well worth exploring.
All in all we had a lovely time, and really want to go back as soon as possible :-)
