The Gwynedd region
Glan Gwna is situated close to the Royal Town of Caernarfon, where you can explore the mediaeval castle, take a boat trip on the beautiful Menai Strait and enjoy a meal in one of the numerous restaurants providing fresh, locally produced fayre.
A perfect base for outdoor pursuits including hillwalking, rock climbing, mountain biking and kayaking. An ideal location to explore the Snowdonia National Park, with Llanberis, at the base of Snowdon, just 7 miles away. For the more daring the longest and fastest zip wire in Europe is only 20 minutes drive away at Zipworld near Bethesda.
For younger members of the family there is a number of great places to visit including Greenwood Forest Park which is home to the the only man powered rollercoaster in Europe, Gypsy Wood where little ones can delight in meeting a Fairy Princess, Pili Palas with it's new Meercat Village and Anglesey Sea Zoo.
Glasfryn Park is ideal for older children where they can try their hand at Wake Boarding or Go Karting, and The Brecon Climbing Wall is a great day out for all ages.
If you fancy sampling the delights of the North Wales coast, Glan Gwna is a great base to explore these North Wales beaches. The nearest beach is at Dinas Dinlle, with rockpools galore. Within 30 minutes drive you have the beautiful beaches of Anglesey such as Newborough, home to romantic LLandwyn Island, Red Wharf and Rhosneigr , a haven for windsurfers.
On the Lleyn Peninsula you are spoilt for choice. The spectacular Porth Dinllaen is home to the famous Ty Coch pub, voted 3rd best beach bar in the world. A "must see" for any visit.
A great day out for all the family can be had on the Welsh Highland Railway. The journey starts at Caernarfon, and winds its way through the stunning Snowdonia National Park before arriving at Porthmadog, with it's beautiful beach, spectacular mountain backdrop and multitude of shops and eateries. For a shorter journey, the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway never fails to please. The Snowdon Mountain Railway runs from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, and is a quicker, and easier, way to scale Wales' highest mountain.
Overall a perfect base to explore North Wales
