Home description

Ideal apartment for a group of friends, family or golfers. Two generous bedrooms with built in wardrobes and full bathrooms. All is close at hand, super swimming pool with children's area, and children's playground, five minutes walk to supermarket, bars and restaurants, five minutes drive to the "Blue Flag" beach at La Zenia with many more shops, bars and restaurants. For young at heart there are many bars and clubs 10 mins away in liveky Torrevieja. For the golfers there are three Championship golf courses within a 15 minute drive at Las Ramblas, VillaMartin and Campoamor, we can also reconfigure the beds. Those looking to add a little culture should visit the historic town of Elche 25 mins away and the city of Murcia also just 25 minutes away.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

Cabo Roig where our villa is located is at the southern end of the Valencian community and is famous for the two huge saltwater lagoons which surround it. These "Salterns of Torrevieja" are the second biggest in the world and certainly the largest in Europe. The lagoons have been designated as national parks and are an impressive sight, attracting more than 250 bird species including flamingoes. The flats have been used for salt production since Roman times and still provide salt for export worldwide.

In Roman times this area was well known for its outstanding port. The remains of the "embarcadero romano" (Roman Docks) can still be seen near the ancient watch tower of La Mata.

Torrevieja which is 10 mins away used to be the home port of the largest fleet of sailing boats in the Mediterranean and still boasts one of Spain's best yacht clubs, with berths for 1,500 boats. In fact the town provides first class facilities for lovers of all sports - there are golf clubs, a flying club, a variety of water sports and the municipal stadium with an athletics track, sauna and covered courts for tennis and a variety of other sports.

For the children the primary attractions are the waterpark at Torrevieja a 10 minute drive away and the theme park Terra Mitica near Benidorm which is an hours drive but well worth the trip.

For the golfers there are three Championship courses ewithin 15 mins drive at Campoamor, LasxRamblas and VillaMartin,

Fiestas are held in the area most months of the year when tourists mingle with the locals to party in the streets in true Spanish-style.

Visit in August and you'll be able to enjoy the weeklong "Habaneras" festival - a major international music competition which attracts a live and television audience of hundreds of thousands of people. Las Habaneras are a celebration of the Latin American music and rhythms brought to Torrevieja in the 19th century through the port's salt-trading links with Cuba.

How to get there

Playa Golf is equidistant from Alicante and Murcia Airports. Both are served by most of the low cost airlines flying from the UK.
For carhire we recommend www.bravocarhire.com as they act as a broker for all the leading rental companies and search for the lowest price.
Driving form either of the airporst is straight forward
