'Finca' (Spanish word for country house) Los Palmitos is located in conservation area, nature park 'Cabo de Gata-Nijar', yet close to civilisation of Almeria city (50 km), Carboneras town (10 km) and Agua Amarga village (2.5 km) with one of the top 20 beaches in Europe, according to Sunday Times. There are about 5 golf courses nearby, lots of hiking routes, small and big picturesque beaches, wildlife that includes owls, chameleons, lizards...
The climate is unique for Europe, with over 240 sunny days a year, never cold in winter (January suntan is the best!) yet not as hot in summer as, say, Sevilla, Cordoba, or Granada. Perfect place to do nothing or to drive around to see the only semi-desert in Europe.
The house and all the facilities are situated on one level and are wheelchair friendly.

The Costa de Almeria region

Cabo de Gata is a coastal area near Almeria with numerous little bays, caves, and secluded beaches (fine description of it in 'The Queen of the South' by Reverte), used to be a popular venue for pirats and smuggles, now favoured by artistic circles, yahtsmen, divers, hikers, lovers of nature. Perfect climate for those tired of rain and sun deficiency (over 240 sunny days a year). Lots of small, very often, solitary beaches, many accesible by car (you park on the beach!), some by foot only, and almost all of them by mountain byke.

Cabo de Gata / Agua Amarga area

Almeria is the capital of the province of Almeria in the South-East of Spain. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, it is an important Mediterranean resort. Almeria has one of the most beautiful and ecologically rich coasts of the Mediterranean and has lots of wonderful beaches that make it one of Spain's natural jewels. One of the most attractive places to visit in Almeria is the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, which is the ideal place for those who are interested in nature. Here you will find solitary corners accessible only by sea and wonderful beaches and coves.
'Little Hollywood' (where a lot of cowboy movies were shot), 'Cuevas de Sorbas' (caves and nature reserve), hot spring spa, mountain range of Alpujarra (leading to Sierra Nevada), local wine producers and olive oil mills, all these places are only about 1 hour drive away.

How to get there

From Britain to Almeria Ryaniair and EasyJet have several flights a day, also Thompson, AirBerlin and other providers. There are several car hire companies in Almeria airport, including Avis.
Ryanair also has flights to Granada (less than 2 hours drive). Malaga is 3 hours by car, Alicante and Murcia about 2.5 hours.

Los Palmitos is a new house with its own swimming pool. Built 4 years ago in traditional Andalusian style yet with mordern materials as much 'eco-friendly' as possible. Kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher, there is a breakfast bar with view to the swimming pool and the valley behind it. The house has underfloor heating and a fire log (winter nights in the desert might be as cool as 14 deg C! There is sattelite TV, DVD player, a lot of English language DVD and Video movies.

Swimming pool is heated by solar panels, all yours to enjoy 24 hours, it has a small children's pool built in. Barbecue area has a sea view, nice shade in the middle of the day and electric lights for night time. You can have breakfasts, drinks and dinners on the terrace or on the roof. You can walk around for miles or just wander around the plot.

Booking fee is 25% paid to British bank at the time of booking, the rest 75% paid 2 weeks prior to rented period, or cash on arrival if time is short.
