Home description

The apartment is situated in a traditional fishing village and is a 5 minute stroll from the waterfront. It is south facing, catching the sun on the balcony throughout the day, and is furnished to a high specification. Free extras include 2 Meg internet access for your lap-top (wireless or lead), choice of four pools, satellite TV, air conditioning, and even use of a very small boat on the lagoon. The apartment is situated on the first floor. There are numerous restaurants, cafes shops and bars within easy walking distance.

The Algarve region

Cabanas is situated on the Ria Formosa in the Eastern Algarve and has over 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. It remains a fishing village despite the low-rise holiday developments which surround it. There are beautiful coastal walks along the shoreline and you can take the boats to the lovely golden sandy beaches two minutes across the lagoon. The restaurants, cafes and bars are plentiful and are renowned for the locally caught seafood cuisine and you are assured of a warm Portuguese welcome wherever you dine.
There are 3 excellent Golf Courses nearby. Benamor is found at the top of the village and offers stunning panoramic views over mountains, countryside and sea. Also within five minutes drive are Quinta Da Ria with beautiful sea views and the very challenging championship course Quinta Da Cima. Castro Marim and Quinta da Vale Golf Clubs are about 20 minute’s drive away, and offer fantastic views across the river Guadiana to Spain (we can help arrange discounted rates for all the courses).
For a very special round, 12 minutes’ drive away there is the new Monte Rei Golf Club. The first of two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses "Monte Rei North" will open for play in June 2007. This par 72 Championship course measuring 6567m from the Tournament tees is a truly unique design, and can now lay claim to being the best golf course anywhere on the Algarve (with prices to match!).
Within 45 minutes drive of the apartment there are 14 other championship courses.

Cabanas / Quinta Da Gomeira area

Cabanas is a traditional village and you can walk along the palm tree lined road along the bay taking the opportunity to dine at one of the many cafes or restaurants which overlook the waterfront. The village is also a few minutes drive from the bustling market town of Tavira which is steeped in history and known locally as the Town of Churches as there are 22 churches in the locality! The town rests either side of the river with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants along the beautifully cobbled streets.
Cabanas is also only a 20 minute drive from the Portuguese/Spanish border and you can drive across the magnificent suspension bridge across the River Guadiana to view a traditional part of Spain where many Spanish choose for their holidays. You can enjoy the best of two beautiful countries in one holiday!
There is a Railway Station at Conceirçao (10 minute’s walk from the apartment) from which you can travel the length of the Algarve from Vila Real De Santo Antonio, a historic market town renowned for its linen on the Spanish Border, all the way to Albufeira.
From the station at Vila Real, you can walk to the River Guadiana and catch the ferry which runs every 20 minutes across to the picturesque Spanish town of Ayamonte.
Cabanas is ideal base from which to sightsee, play golf or simply enjoy a relaxing holiday within a very friendly comunity. It is a beautiful place and one to which you will surely wish to return.

How to get there

Fly to Faro and it´s an easy 35 minute drive to Cabanas.
Cheap flights available from Easyjet.co.uk, Flythompson.co.uk. Monarchairlines etc.

The property has two bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room. Both bedrooms have large fitted wardrobes .The kitchen is open plan to the lounge and there is a terrace style balcony off the kitchen to enable you to enjoy alfresco dining. Afterwards you will be able to relax in the cool air conditioned rooms before heading out for a traditional Portuguese meal at one of the highly recommended local restaurants. Internet access is now freely available - all you need is your laptop.

As well as the play area which the apartment overlooks there is also a tennis court and an area for older children right next to the development (see photo gallery).
Cot / high chair available on request . Four private swimming pools ready to be used.
We have a small rowing boat down at the lagoon which clients are very welcome to use, but it must be stressed that this is entirely at their own risk, and safety equipment (eg bouyancy aids) are not provided.

Conditions

The deposit is 20% per holiday with the balance due 8 weeks prior to departure. The apartment is cleaned and linen and towels changed weekly. Internet access, electricity and gas are included in the price.
