Home description

Situated in a peaceful residential area, this spacious 3 bedroomed townhouse offers good home comforts, and is around 20 minutes walk from the local village and beach. Car hire is not essential but would be recommended for a few days if you like to see other places, although there are excellent bus and rail networks very close by.

The house comprises kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 1 shower room, lounge with BBC Freeview TV and 2 twin bedrooms + 1 bedroom with bunk beds. Outside,there is a grassed area and plunge pool (5m x 3m) perfect for a quick dip complemented by larger residents' pools perfect for swimming and exercise very close by.

For peaceful relaxation, a canopy offers shade for those who just wish to read and take time out of the sun. Table, chairs and BBQ are also provided making this a great place to dine 'al-fresco'. This house is perfect for couples or families seeking a reasonably priced, peaceful pool / beach holiday who enjoy home comforts with some amenities nearby. 6 excellent golf courses close by to choose from and we can assist with discounted green fees.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

With its stunning coastline, excellent golf courses and pleasant year round climate, the Algarve's 200 kilometre stretch of southern shoreline has become one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Bordered on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is divided from the rest of Portugal by a series of low lying mountains. In the east, the Guadiana River forms a scenic border with neighbouring Spain.

There is a clear definition between the Western Algarve and the East. Whilst the West shows more development towards tourism, the Eastern Algarve and its tidal marshlands still have a tranquil beauty, and the small resorts along the coast have retained much of their character, looking today as they must have looked long ago. Here, tourism blends in perfectly with local activities creating a relaxed way of life. There is a tinge of excitement and even romance about the ferry boat trips to the beach islands, where visitors are rewarded with superb, less crowded bathing beaches and warm waters.

The sea water temperature is around 14c in January and reaches a high 22c in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the temperatures of the region, which are around 15c in January and up to 28c or more in July and August. The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a sunny climate. The autumn and winter months are mild, but you will need a jacket in the evening and some kind of heating in your apartment or hotel room. January is the coolest month of the year.


Cabanas de Tavira / Conceicao de Tavira area

Conceicao, as a suburb of Tavira has a friendly feel and offers its visitors a warm welcome. Within 5 minutes walk, there are around 5 cafe bars where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a refreshment or 2(!) along with 3 restaurants offering good quality Portuguese cuisine. The village also has a post office, cash machine and a mini market. The train station and bus stops are very close by. For a little more enjoyment, the main seaside resort of Cabanas is around 20 minutes walk and whilst offering more choice to its visitors is not too over crowded. There are many different places to eat including Portuguese, Italian and English cuisines, a range of friendly local Tascas and several late night bars, although the night-life is generally relaxed and family orientated. It remains largely unspoilt with a friendly, family atmosphere and boasts a beautiful beach island reached by a small boat at the end of the promenade.

CABANAS BEACH ISLAND
The Algarve is famous for its wonderful sandy shores and Cabanas beach Island is no exception! Separated by an arm of the River Formosa the sands are golden and clean offering a good standards for bathing and sun worshipping. There is a small range of amenities including snack bars and sunbeds and shades for hire. The Island is reached by a small and inexpensive boat from a designated point on the sea front. Speed boat water taxis are also available providing a fun and exciting way to travel to nearby beaches - of which Tavira Island can be highly recommended for a Tropical Holiday adventure! THE BEAUTIFUL TOWN OF TAVIRA
When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

OTHER THINGS TO SEE AND DO
…….by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain. The lovely border town of Ayamonte is not far by car, and once there you can sample the delights of another country, including wine, tapas and excellent shopping. Or you can travel by car, local bus or train to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and from there take the 15 minute ferry crossing to Ayamonte. For the more adventurous the vibrant city of Seville is approx 170km away. For budding historians the Castle at Castro Marim is worth a look.

GOLF
This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property.

It is becoming increasingly easy to travel to the Algarve where the main airport is Faro. The most favoured budget airlines are Easyjet, Thomsonfly, Jet2.com, Bmi Baby, Ryan Air, Aer Lingus and Monarch. The best website that we can recommend is www.skyscanner.net where you can select your chosen dates and preferred departure airport and you are presented with a 1 simple list of all available flights, the operator names and the prices! There is a Shower room and WC on the ground floor

Stairs Lead to the first floor with 3 bedrooms; 1 with bunk beds, 2 twins - 1 of which is en suite. This master room also has its own balcony. A door leads to the rooftop terrace where sun worshippers have uninterrupted sunshine and coastal views.

For your enjoyment, every inch of the outside area has been considered. At the front of the house, dining furniture is perfect for enjoying breakfast - and with its canopies, offers shade in the heat of the day to those who prefer to relax in the cooler aspects.

To the rear of the house, there are grassy areas with sunbeds great for soaking up the sun, paved areas and a BBQ - perfect for 'al-fresco' dining and a refreshing plunge pool for those hot and sunny days. Very close by there is a choice of large residents' pools suitable for children and adults alike open from morning 'till evening.

Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Villa care company available throughout stay for assistance if required.
