The apartment is located just twenty minutes’ walk to Cabanas beach, on the outskirts of the town often referred to as one of the Algarve's best kept secrets. Quiet and peaceful, yet only ten minutes from the larger resorts such as Tavira and Altura, the apartment has easy access to all amenities, including the local market for bargain hunting, and many excellent restaurants for eating out.

The apartment benefits from a communal pool, with a shallow end perfect for the children. Leading from the living room is a spacious balcony furnished with a table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco together with a rooftop terrace with lovely sea-views. With one double and one twin bedroom (double bed can be separated into two beds), the apartment is ideal for families or golfers, with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay. There are 12 championship golf courses within 45 minutes drive, including the recently opened Monte Rei Course which is only 15 mins from the apartment and was designed by Jack Nicolas. Within 5 mins of the apartment there are three courses; Benamor / Quita da Cima and Quita da Ria. If you are looking to play, use a local booking agent and you will make some savings on the green fees.

The Algarve / East Algarve region

The beaches are a major attraction in the Eastern Algarve and along this section of the coast there are some fantastic ones from Praia de Monta Gordo which stretches for 10km, to the beach at the IIha de Tavira, most of the beaches offer facilities to buy food and drink or just enjoy a long lazy lunch.
During the out of season period the beach is a wildlife nature reserve. There are a number of Blue flag beaches around the Tavira / Cabanas coastal area.

Cabanas de Tavira area

Cabanas is located on the Eastern Algarve. It is a small fishing village which remains unspoilt by tourism, the main palm tree lined road along the bay has a number of lovely bars and restaurants that serve traditional Portuguese fare at very reasonable prices. It is from the end of this bay where you can catch the water taxi that takes you to the local beaches. There is a quaint Railway Station at Conceicao where you can catch a train which travels the length of the Algarve from Vila Real De Santo Antonio to Albufeira. From the station at Vila Real, you can walk to the River Guadiana and catch the ferry which runs every 20 minutes across to the picturesque Spanish town of Ayamonte. Only a few minutes by car from Cabanas is Tavira town which is very much a traditional working Portuguese town, full of narrow cobbled streets which come alive at night, with little bars and restaurants and shops.
GOLF HEAVEN
If sun-bathing is not for you then the local course at Benamor is just 5 minutes walk away. It is a 5500 metres, par 71 course with excellent facilities, and is perfect for holiday golf. It has views out to the sea and of the nearby hills.
Quinta da Cima (6256 metres par 72) and Quinta da Ria (6110m par 72) (5 mins drive) are beautiful championship courses with stunning scenery and top class practice facilities. A little further afield (20 mins) is Castro Marim (5466m par 72) with its castle for a clubhouse! New on the scene 15 mins away are the 2 spectacular Jack Nicklaus signature courses at Monte Rei - the courses and the service are an experience not to be missed.

How to get there

Fly to Faro - Cabanas / Tavira is just 30 km from the airport (20 - 25mins by car).
Cheap flights available from Easyjet.co.uk from Liverpool to Faro airport and thru Monarch.co.uk from Manchester to Faro airport.
Great car hire available from www.amoita.com (book on-line and collect at Faro airport).
There are always local taxis available - fare should be no more than 40 euros.
Fly to Seville - Cabanas/Tavira is about 80-90 mins drive away.
