Local Area:
Tavira is the local town, a beautiful fishing town with stunning architecture and history. It is set on an inland waterway and narrow cobbled streets support a myriad of beautifully externally tiled shops and restaurants. There are some 32 Churches of which to tour. View the town from the watch tower or enjoy a drink on the roof terrace hotel, one of three in Tavira. Restaurants offer local fish and huge fresh steaks, paired with the finest quality wines. All are priced within a budget that would allow plenty of spare money for shopping.

Cabanas itself is set amid rolling countryside and is by the sea. It has an island beach which can be accessed by water taxis at €1s a trip. The beach is stunning - Kilometre after Kilometre of beautiful white sand with beach bars and restaurants along its length. It has been voted in the top 3 in Europe.


Tavira is known as one of the most attractive towns in the Algarve. Dating back to 2,000 BC, Tavira has a wealth of architectural gems from a range of eras, especially Roman. However, it is the endless, beautifully empty beaches, and great open spaces filled with blossoming orange, fig and almond trees which make taking holiday accommodation in Tavira, Algarve such a treat.

Things to do in Tavira, Portugal
With 37 Churches, Tavira, 'the town of churches', has many attractive historical chapels. The Misericordia and Palacio de Galeria are of special interest. The Roman bridge and the tombs of Don Prio Peres Correia and his seven knights also attract flocks of fascinated visitors.
Cabanas De Tavira's main beach lies past the salt pans, and is accessible by regular ferries, which take visitors to the long sand island of Ilha de Tavira, where the vast tracts of sand provide an idyllic spot to sunbathe and relax. The secluded beaches of Cabanas and Conceicao are also reaches by boat from a holiday rental in Tavira, and are blissfully calm and peaceful.
As well as the ferries leaving for the beaches, boats leave the pier to for trips to go fishing in Tavira. The deep sea fishing along the Algarve coast is renowned all across Europe, and quite rightly so.
Golfing holidays to Cabanas De Tavira shower you with options. The magnificent public golf courses of Benamor and Colina Verde are not only scenic, taxing and varied, but within easy access of a self catering holiday rental in Cabanas De Tavira.

The Cabanas de Tavira / Costa de Cabanas area

There are many golf courses close to the development, one of which is shown above (Quinta De Ria). This is possibly one of the most beautifully maintained courses and it is good value as well. With 24 golf courses within a short minute drive. As well as golfers, Cabanas appears to have two further rental markets. These would be the retired folk who tend to holiday here from September through to April. The second group, are families who start holidaying from April through till September.

The position of Cabanas is fantastic. 3 Kilometres inland there is the A22 motorway which links the whole of the Algarve. To put some perspective on it, Seville in Spain is within 1.5 hours and Lagos at the far end of the Western Algarve is only 50 minutes away.

The Cabanas apartments are just 25 minutes from Faro airport. Many tour operators use Faro airport. The A22 offers a direct route to the area, coming off at junction 16 and onto the N125 will take you to this lovely area. There is a train service to Conceicao, which is located 5 minutes walk from the apartments.
