Quiet and peaceful the apartment has easy access to all amenities, including the local market and shops, and many excellent local restaurants for eating out. Cabanas is still very much a quaint local small town, but is only 10 minutes from the larger town of Tavira.
We enjoy an outdoor pool which is 10m x 6m with a depth of 0.85m to 1.75m, benefitting from full sunshine throughout the day. Plenty of sun-loungers available around the pool.
The apartment balcony provides stunning views of the sea and sunrises, whilst sunsets can be enjoyed from the roof terrace. The balcony has the benefit of an automatically retractable awning, and is furnished with a table and chairs to enable you to dine al fresco.

The Algarve / East Algarve region
The Algarve is Portugal's most popular tourist region, for its beautiful beaches and warm waters, heated by the Gulf Stream. But while most people coming to the Algarve get off the plane at Faro and head for the spectacular bays and coves to the west, the long, sandy beaches to the east are much less well known.
This coastline falls within the Ria Formosa National Park, of great interest to nature-lovers, especially bird watchers. (It bears many similarities to its neighbour over the border in Spain, the famous Coto Doñana.) This means development has been limited and crowds are easy to avoid. The estuary of the Formosa forms a series of islands, ilhas (Faro, Barreta, Culatra, Armona and Tavira), essentially sand-spits with long, dune-backed beaches, behind which form mud flats, lagoons and salt marshes.
The best place to use as a base for exploring the area is the town of Cabanas, a traditional working town. Stroll around, try the local speciality (fresh tuna with onion) or a cataplana, have a drink or two.Nearby the town of Tavira has a nice ruined castle, and twenty-one churches. Most of these are not in use or only used on occasional days of the year, but can be visited if you ask around.
Car rental is your best bet for moving around, locally or further afield. Buses are reasonable, but infrequent, though CP, the Portuguese railway company, is quite convenient, whether you are heading west towards Faro or east towards Vila Real de San Antonio, on the border with Spain.
The sister ilhas of Armona and Culatra, the charming hamlet of Luz de Tavira, and Santa Lucia, an octopus-fishing village, are all nearby and worth visiting.
The Cabanas de Tavira / Costa de Cabanas area
Cabanas is in an area of natural beauty. The whole seafront / coastline from west of Tavira down to the spanish border (Monte Gorde) is a designated area of natural beauty within the Ria Formosa natural park. This is excellent for long walks on beautiful sand, but not for small children. Cabanas beach is a 2 minute ferry ride across the estuary - 60 cents per person each way ! and excellent for small children.The beach has beautiful sand, sunbeds, parasols, great swimming, proper toilet facilities, drink/snack facilities.
The town remains a quiet, local place, with lots of small, family owned shops, cafes, bars, restaurants. The pace of life is generally slow, nothing happens in a hurry ! A game of 'boule' can take a whole afternoon !!
The whole area surrounding Cabanas is a golfers' delight ! there are 50+ courses within an hours drive. Information about all the local markets etc is in the Clients Information Folder on the coffee table !

Great apartment, close to THE boulevard overlooking the sea. Ken en Pauline as receiving couple are very vriendlief and helpful.

The apartment is very very clean, modern and ideally placed for us. We have a young son, and the apartment was ideally placed for us to eat, then get back without the use of a car in the evenings. The pool was excellent, and the beach was a relatively short walk and fun boat trip away. The balcony (both main and roof) where spacious as was the apartment in general. We would definitely recommend it.

A fantastically well presented spacious apartment set in a truly lovely well maintained complex, far better than some 5* hotels I have stayed in. The balcony has a built in barbecue which makes for a lovely evening meal, and the sun terrace is perfect too.
Very spacious apartment with everything you'd need to make it a home from home (but with much better weather!) for a fortnight away. The local town is idillic too, and the golf in the area is second to none.
