The Heart of England/Peak District

The Peak District National Park which was established in 1951 covers over 1400 sq km and has a huge variety of landscapes, wildlife, history and culture. The diverse nature of the Derbyshire landscape with its dry-stone walling, deep wooded valleys, heather clad moorlands, market towns and villages makes it the perfect setting for a relaxing break.

Biggin-by-Hartington sits high in the spectacular White Peak landscape and is a very popular are with walkers and cyclists. Just off the A515 midway between Ashbourne and Buxton the village is typical of a White Peak village, running along a single street and surrounded by farms and agricultural land. Buildings of note are the Church of St Thomas, the Waterloo Inn and Biggin Hall.

Biggin Grange is just outside the village and looks over Biggin Dale which is a beautiful sanctuary of which part of it is a National Nature Reserve. A short walk from Biggin Grange takes you down into Biggin Dale which runs into the River Dove. The hills are covered in lovely wild flowers amd in the Spring cowslips and purple orchids are abundant.

"Stunning property and location - highly recommended!"

Amazing site - beautiful views from the patio. Had a BBQ one night (all provided, incl fuel), glorious sunny evening, stunning views. Lovely property, everything you could need (incl WIFI!). Owners were lovely and very helpful too. We are keen cyclists and the property is a few minute ride away from the Tissington Trail - we did a great 50mile loop with this and the High Peak trail, on the mountain bikes. Highly recommended!

"A cosy country retreat"

We had a wonderfully relaxing break, at the cosy Cheese Press Cottage. We just wish it had been winter, so we could have lit the wood burner! We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and were greatly amused by… More

Thank you for lovely review and I'm so pleased you had a nice few days exploring the area. I still haven't done the steam train so that is something I must do soon.
Thank you for mentioning about the shower and I will amend my descriptions and also take a better photo of the bathroom.
I also don't think there is a photo of the table in the sitting room so I need to get the camera out again!

"Beautiful Cottage and estate, excellent location"

I would recommend this cottage, it was beautiful inside, very clean and equipped with all the amenities we required. The location was perfect with great views all around, small walk to the local pub and quick drive to the nearest towns. The owners were very welcoming on arrival.

I'm really pleased you enjoyed staying at Cheese Press Cottage and thank you very much for the nice review.
I keep trying to add things to the kitchen so that it has everything when people arrive and have just bought some espresso cups - it will soon be better than my kitchen!
Hope you get chance to come back to Biggin Grange in the future.

"Amazing, 100% recommended"

This is an amazing property in an incredible location. We had two nights in mid July and despite some changeable weather we had a wonderful weekend. The Tissington Trail is just round the corner for a great bike ride, but the real gem is the accommodation itself. We could not have wanted for anything more. Everything was provided, including breathtaking views and utter tranquility. Spotless presentation and a comfy bed was a bonus too. I would not hesitate to book this again, we will be back. Thank you Jane for a great weekend

Thanks for the lovely review. You certainly got the extremes in the weather over the 48 hours you were here! We are really lucky having the Tissington Trail so near and glad you managed to make use of it.
It was very nice to meet you both and hope you can come back in the future.

"Very cozy and a bit magical"

After a warm welcome we were left to enjoy our cozy cottage and had it been winter we would have snuggled up on the sofa by the log burner but as it was warm we sat out and took in the amazing scenery. The former dairy farm that the cottage is part of overlooks Dove Dale and is not just quiet but beautiful. Inside, everything is a high standard and just perfect for a short break. Great for walks or just relaxing, this is definitely a 'getting away from it all' type break. Would really recommend.

Am so pleased you had a nice time and relaxed! We are really lucky with the views and I really appreciate the space after I've been in London for a few days. Do come back and see us again if you need a few days to recharge your batteries!
Thanks and it was nice to meet you.

"Lovely small Cottage"

Beautiful cottage on a immaculately kept farm. It was the little things that made are stay so enjoyable. Like the capsule coffee machine with capsules provided. Everything in the house is of the highest quality, especially the bed. Would highly recommend.

Thank you very much for your review and I am glad you had a good time in Derbyshire. My husband will be thrilled you have said the farm is immaculate! Though it is probably more the tenant farmer who deserves all the credit. Hope you manage to return in the future.

I'm so pleased that you had a nice weekend. Thank you so much for your kind words and please come back and see us when you want to get away from the City. You can definitely relax and unwind looking at the views. I have just returned from a couple of nights in a built-up area and it was so nice to get back to Derbyshire and enjoy the space and open views. Thanks again. Jane
