It is ideal for walkers and hikers.

Buxton

Buxton is a cultural hub with its Opera House that attracts wonderful productions of theatre, ballet and opera. It is particularly renowned for the Buxton Festival and the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival, both of which take place in July each year. There are many stately homes nearby, including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Gawsworth Hall, Little Moreton Hall, Lyme Park and Tatton Hall.

There are numerous walks with breathtaking views in the area, as well as other outdoor activities such as mountain biking, caving, go karting, Go Ape, canal boating and sailing.

Keen shoppers are within an hour's drive (or 30 mins by train) of Manchester to the north or Stoke on Trent and the potteries to the south. Macclesfield, Congleton and Buxton are within 20 mins drive and have all of the major supermarkets and independent shops.

"Delightful farm-side experience"

If you're looking at the area, you probably already know the sheep outnumber the people. Bestview Barn is a converted barn that's both homey & luxurious. There's a beautiful view across the valley that is like looking at a painted back-drop. For my wife & teenage kids, one of the big treats was the sheep & cows that came up to the fence to say hello. Owner was a treat to work with. A true oasis of tranquility off the beaten path.

"What are you waiting for!!!! Book the Barn already..."

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at the barn with our 2.5 dogs. The location is amazing, view awesome, amenities, facilities and the appointment of the barn exceeded our expectations (which are always high, to our eternal disappointment!) If You're looking for a quality, really comfortable and cosy base to explore the Peaks from, I cant recommend this place highly enough (and I'm hard to please!) The boys went off riding the dark peak trails, and the girls went shopping. Something for everyone in nearby Buxton, Bakewell and Congleton.. The welcome and hospitality here is also worth a mention, Miranda kept in touch from booking to arrival, (where we had cakes, wine and some local fruit and veg in our hamper) without being overbearing. Also if you're worried about having the landlord next door (as we were slightly) then there really is no need. We were left entirely to our own device's knowing that Miranda and Harman were just up the hill if needed.. The view is so amazing, the only thing that would've meant we'd gazed at it more would've been the installation of a warm bubbling hot tub! We would definitely like to visit here again.. Thank you for having us!
