The Heart of England/Peak District

The Peak District National Park is Britain's first National Park and has a special place in the hearts of millions of visitors - from surrounding towns and cities, the UK and all over the globe.

Its internationally-important and protected landscapes and wildlife mean different things to different people. For some it's a wild and wonderful setting for outdoor activities, including the many that enjoy walks in the Peak District National Park. Or there's cycling, abseiling and even yachting to enjoy. For others it's their favourite spot for a meal out - featuring fine local produce - with family and friends. The area has some of the most stunnning stately homes and houses of any county: Haddon Hall, Kedleston Hall and of course Chatsworth, a must see for anyone visiting Derbyshire.

Buxton

There are many stunning walks right from the doorstep and the property has the benefit of being close to many interesting Derbyshire towns and villages. This ancient village is set in lovely moorland countryside, six miles to the southeast of Buxton. The River Dove flows to the north, the River Manifold to the south and large numbers of visitors come here to explore the upper reaches of these two famous valleys and the rugged scenery that surrounds them.

The popular and interesting stately homes of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall near Bakewell are within easy reach and offer a full days sightseeing. Close by is the small village of Hartington, which is famous for its tasty stilton cheese sold throughout the country. There are many walks from the cottage including the sights of Chrome Hill and Wheeldon Hill and it is only a 10 minute drive to the High Peak Trail and cycle hire at Parsley Hay. The owner will provide maps and walking guides to assist with the planning of walks around the surrounding countryside.
