The Heart of England/Peak District

The Peak District is one of Britain's most popular National Parks, due to its outstanding natural beauty as well as it being easily accessible from many parts of the UK.

The popularity of the Peak District National Park stems from the vast array of activities on offer which include hiking, climbing and other outdoor pursuits. The scenery on offer within the Peak District is also beautiful, and the park boasts over 202 square miles of open access land.

Iconic landmarks such as Kinder Scout, Mam Tor and Derwent Edge are but a few of the great and varied selection of Peaks, Tors and Edges for you to explore either by foot or mountain bike.

Cycling is one of the most popular outdoor pursuits for visitors of the Peak District with a number of cycle hire centres being available. A series of disused railway lines are now used as cycle tracks, and provide great opportunities for gentle traffic free riding in the national park.

The Peak District National Park authority also lays on a number of organised walks for those interested in both hiking and exploring the national park as part of a group. These are one of the best ways to see the park as many of the routes are structured around famous peak district land marks such as Kinder Scout. The walks are also an educational experience with navigational training being available for those interested in walking independently in the future.

Tideswell is an attractive Derbyshire village in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Stay at Fernlea in Tideswell and you'll discover the perfect place to stay. Once here there is lots to do in and around the area. Tideswell is home to both the Tideswell School of Food, a community run enterprise which is part of the Taste Tideswell project and the Silva Navigation School. Whatever the weather, whether you're looking for an active day, a sedate and gentle one or something in between, Tideswell has loads to offer.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tideswell and are confident you'll have a memorable visit and will want to return again and again.
