The County Antrim region

The North Antrim Coast has many attractions to offer including the World Heritage Site and the area of outstanding beauty which is the Giant's Causeway. Travel a little further to Ballycastle, Ballymoney, Portballintrae and Portrush to visit other attractions such as the Bushmills Distillery, the oldest legal distillery in the world.

Bushmills

The cottages are perfectly located for exploring all the attractions around the North Coast. The Giant's Causeway is situated near Bushmills, County Antrim, on the north antrim coast. The Giant's Causeway has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986 and is today owned by the UK's National Trust charity. Generally considered as one of the Worlds greatest natural wonders.

The Causeway Coast offers 12 miles of walking, along cliff faces with some of the world's rarest flora and fauna residing close by, and finishing near the famous Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge. Walk across the breath taking rope bridge to Carrick-a-rede island and enjoy a truly cliff top experience. Traditionally a rope bridge was erected by local salmon fishermen to cross chasm to access their fishing nets in the waters below.

A private railway exists between the Giant's Causeway and the Bushmills Distillery (the world's oldest legal whisky distillery)

Admission to the Giant's Causeway coastal path and site is free, but donations are accepted and will help maintain this distinct landscape and natural beauty.

For more information, including how to get there and visitor facilities can be found by visiting the National Trust website.

The Bushmills Distillery began brewing whisky in 1608 at this landmark site. A visit to the distillery is a must to see first hand the brewing process and of course get an opportunity to sample some of the world's finest whiskys. There is a shop to purchase your favourite tipple to keep you warm on those dark winter nights.

Further along the coast you'll find the famous the Royal Portrush Golf Links situated close to the ruins of Dunluce Castle once occupied by the infamous MacQuillan and MacDonnell clans.

The Royal Portrush is the only course in Ireland to have hosted the Open Championship. Offering 36 holes of links golf it is home to one of the best and most challenging links golf courses in the world, the Dunluce links, and the hidden gem, the Valley links. The Royal welcomes visitors all year round to enjoy the challenges of its courses. Dunluce links was voted number 12 in the world by Golf Magazine.

The Royal Portrush hosted the 2012 Irish Open.

The Causeway Coast Tournament held across Mussenden at Castlerock, the Strand at Portstewart, Ballycastle and the Valley at Portrush attracting over 1,000 golfers annually.

"Couldn't have asked for more..."

I don't know where to begin! We had a large group headed to Bushmills for New Year's Eve and needed a comfortable, spacious, private and clean place to stay since we planned on spending a good amount of time inside the cottages. Sometimes something looks good on paper or online but when you arrive it's disappointing. This is not the case. It exceeded our expectations and Susan's generosity and warm welcome was just a bonus. These cottages were fully equipped, clean, comfortable, warm (during the winter) and a short trip from loads of activities. I'd HIGHLY recommend St. Columbs to anyone wanting a wonderful stay in Northern Ireland.
