Very spacious annex next to owners property, nice kitchen and comfortable beds. Huge garden next to a stream and footpaths. A great base for exploring the local area. Sky TV including movie channels was a real bonus and we felt at home. |

We are a professional couple in our fifties who have many spent years travelling, so we feel our feedback is a true reflection of the accommodation Date of occupancy 5 to 13 August 2011 The property is in a very nice location, the village store, and pub are within five minutes drive. We found the accommodation to be in very good condition throughout. The lounge is of a L shape which leads into a small dining area, which would be suitable for four. The lounge consists of a single chair, sofa, and corner sofa, the TV is small by today's comparisons, but the addition of sky movies and sky sports is a bonus, providing you can get comfortable on the sofas which became slightly uncomfortable after about an hour The bedrooms are average, but they do not contain any wardrobes for hanging your clothes, but the owners supply you with a mobile clothes rack. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped The bathroom, is starting to look a bit tired The Garage has been turned into a games room containing table tennis, air hockey, Xbox with dancemats and darts There is a rather large garden which consists mainly of shrubs and lawn, with a small patio area which is accessed from the lounge, a nearby railway track proved to be disturbing when relaxing in the garden with the sound of trains passing by; this is not mentioned in the advert The house keeper Tracy was very helpful, and would go the extra mile to make your stay more enjoyable. As quoted on the web site £100 security deposit required with final payment. This covers insurance excess and is returned on departure if not required, but the booking form states that the £100 security deposit will be returned by post after inspection of the property. The inspection should have taken place at 10.00am on the day of departure, and then the deposit refunded, we found this difficult to accept, as no proof of an inspection prior to our occupancy or check list is supplied so you are at the owner's discretion, but are fears were put to rest when the cheque dropped through the door two days later. Overall an enjoyable stay, but we do not agree with the final inspection taking place after we had vacated the property, we would have preferred the inspection to take place in our presence, and deposit retuned on the day of departure as stated on their web site. Response: Many thanks for your review, with reference to inspection we have found in the past that the timeliness of inspections upon departure becomes limiting for those wishing to leave early and can make some guests feel intimidated, awkward or embarrassed. We do not inspect for minutia,we expect things to get broken, it is simply substantial damage such as fire damage or smashed windows which we hope guests will report. Security deposits have so far always been returned in full. However it is useful to know that some guests may prefer an inspection upon departure and as such we have added this to our departure documents - guests may now request an inspection upon departure. For clarification to those reading, the television has a 36" screen and suits the size of the room, the railway track is over a mile away and there is a large closet in the hall with substantial hanging space. |
