Why not enjoy a short break in The Loft ? The self contained and spacious annexed room is perfect for one or two guests as either a twin or double room. Although we run as a bed and breakfast, the ingredients for breakfast are left in the fridge for you to eat at your leisure, and include a range of Continental meats, cheese, yoghurt, homemade fruit compote and jams. There is a well equipped kitchen area with microwave and fridge for preparing light snacks and a spacious bathroom with a shower. Please note that there is no full cooking facility or washing machine. We have listed under B & B but appear as a Holiday rental on this website, so do not want to mislead.

The loft is the top floor of our newly built cart lodge and is perfect for those who are visiting East Anglia for work or for relaxation as part of your holiday in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. The village of Badwell Ash has a small pub, a fish and chip shop and a well stocked shop. We have country walks close to the house and two old bikes that can be borrowed.

The loft room is approached by a metal staircase and has its own private entrance. You can park on our gravel driveway. The balcony outside the room has a table and two chairs and there is also a ground level covered patio area. We do not allow smoking in the room but you can smoke outside if necessary. The is a bar style table with stools to eat or work from and a comfortable armchair. You will find wifi and a television and there is a land-line phone with free local calls included as the mobile signal in the village is poor. All linen is 100% cotton and large, thick, fluffy bath towels are provided too.

The nearest train station is at Elmswell (only three miles away) with very good links to London and other mainline stations like Cambridge and Norwich. Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket are both twelve miles away, Newmarket and Ipswich are about twenty four miles. Snetterton race track is half an hour drive. Buses run to Bury St Edmunds and back three times a day from outside the house. We are only ninety minutes from Stansted airport. East Anglia has a diverse mixture of cities, individual market towns and pretty villages. There is beautiful unspoilt countryside nearby and some traditional seaside resorts, all are within easy reach of our home.

Bury St Edmunds

Bury St Edmunds is a charming market town. Steeped in history with the delightful Abbey Gardens and the remains of the 11th Century Abbey. Explore the medieval grid, the market square (market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays), or take a tour round the Greene King Brewery (every day, varying times). If you fancy a cup of coffee or meal there is a wealth of independent cafes and restaurants and all the major chains.

We have a beautifully restored Regency theatre, a concert hall and the smallest pub in the country.

"Modern and self contained"

I stayed at The Loft while working in the area and visiting family in Suffolk.

It provided a great base and had a super king size bed which was really comfortable.

The room is annexed, so I didn't see the owners very much, but there is a phone and you can call for anything that you need. Everything worked well, it all looked brand new, and there was excellent wifi and tv, although the tv is not massive. The en-suite bathroom is big with a spacious shower. The towels were very big which I liked.
Breakfast was left in the fridge and there was enough for me to have a snack the night before (nice home made jam, cheese, cold meats, cereals, bread etc)
I liked having the little kitchen space as I had one day when I was working and stayed in all day.

This is a great room in a quiet village but only 10 minutes by car to the A14.

Highly recommended!!

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you chose to stay with us and glad that you found The Loft so comfortable. We are planning to get a bigger television soon!
