Home description

.The cottage has four bedrooms, a double room, two singles and room which has a bunk bed. There are two reception rooms and a conservatory which opens out onto the large garden. In the living room is the open fire which burns logs and smokeless fuel., the cottage is oil centrally heated , fuel and logs provided. The kitchen is a galley type with electric hob and oven and the bathroom is a three piece white suite with over head electric shower. All bed linen and towels are provided and included in the price.

The Northern England / Yorkshire / Lancashire region

Situated in the Pendle area of East Lancashire this 200 year old detached stone cottage nestles in a charming hamlet called Roggerham Gate. Built in 1803 as a Sunday School for the people of the area it still retains many original features such as the oak beams and it is said that the fireplace comprises of the Bull Baiting stone used by the villagers in times gone by. The cottage lies on the Bronte Way and has the benefit of two reservoirs close by. Day fishing tickets can be obtained from the Roggerham Gate Inn (0.05km away) on production of the necessary certificate which can be obtained from any Post Office for a nominal fee.Keen fishermen can s[pend a day at the Pendle View Fisheries on the A59 Clitheroe costing £6 for the day.


Burnley / Worsthorne area

Blackpool is only 45 minutes away a great day for the family. If you prefer a day shopping there are some great places to vist such as Boundary Mill at Colne, Oswaldtwistle Mill, Barden Mill Burnley and why not spend a day at Skipton where they have a great street market three days a week and visit Skipton Castle a favourite with holiday makers.
Pendle is steeped in history , the most commonly referred to are the Pendle Witches who are believed to have inhabited the hill. Call in at the Witches Galore shop at Newchurch in Pendle and take home a momento from the area.The Heritage Centre at Barrowford has lots to offer in the way of local history and it also hosts a charming tea room where you can rest your legs before setting off again.
Howarth the home of the Bronte sisters is only a matter of 30 minutes away, a charming village packed full of small shops and places of interest.
If you are interested in antiques we have Queens Mill at Harlesyke a matter of 10minutes away or further afield visit the quaint town of Hebden Bridge which is throng with antiques for the discerning eye.

M6 North leave at Junction 12 signpost Nelson up the slip road at roundabout turn to right pass B&Q on right at next roundabout take first left to traffic lights turn right up to next rmini roundabout turn right .At large pub The General Gordon turn left. Carry along this road for approximateley 1.5 miles through country. See The Roggerham Gate Inn on the left at sharp left hand bend . 50 yards down the road Swinden School House detached cottage is on the left.
