The Yorkshire region

The Yorkshire coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington have been attracting visitors for hundreds of years who come to enjoy the miles of clean sandy beaches, pretty fishing ports and to walk along magnificent cliff top paths. All along the coast visitors will be able to find a contrast of family friendly resorts and quieter little fishing ports which, all in all, offers something for everyone. North Yorkshire boasts two National Parks, The North York Moors and The Yorkshire Dales. Both areas are stunning and perfect for walkers, cyclists, climbers and for exploring by car or motorbike.

Burniston

Burniston makes a great base for touring the Yorkshire Coast area. It is located on the Southern edge of the North York Moors approximately 5 miles North of Scarborough, and 20 miles south of Whitby. Within a 10 minute drive is Scarborough.

Filey, Whitby, Ravenscar, Robin Hoods Bay and Goathland are all within a 30 minute drive, with the traditional market towns of Pickering and Helmsley just a little further afield.

Two great pubs (Three Jolly Sailors & The Oakwheel) which both do great food, are located in the village around a 10 minute walk from Meadowside. There is a Newsagent / Post Office on Burniston Front Street. A longer walk (or short drive) to the nearby village of Cloughton finds the “Blacksmiths Arms”, where the Queen enjoyed her first ever pub lunch a few years ago, and the Red Lion, and for those who want to stretch their legs they can walk towards Whitby for an hour or so on the railway path to find a traditional pub “The Hayburn Wyke” favoured by walkers and cyclists alike.
